Cool trends that faded out

Cabbage Patch Kids. No, I never had one.
Chemistry sets.
I even had a geology set.
Rock collections.
Black light posters.
The middle class. No, it didn't fade out, it was eliminated by the upper class.

Ehh, 3D is a trend again....>.>

I know. As I've said before in this thread, I was talking about the old 'red/green' 3D. It was a trend that died out many decades ago, tried to make a comeback, and died out again. Even polarised 3D didn't make it when it came out and died an early death. I suspect this 'new' version will die out also.

Drive-In theatres. They pretty much died out with the arrival of VCR technology and have never really made a comeback, at least not here in Oz.

Such a pity .... An evening's movie entertainment at the drive-in was a lot of fun!

They've pretty-much disappeared here, too, but one opened just this past Spring about a half-hour drive from where I live. It did pretty good business.

I see. And yeah I don't know how long this 3D craze will last, but I think it'll be here for a longer time than the original. What with TVs, video games and even phones becoming 3D....

There's actually one in a small town an hour or so from where I live. I haven't been in, like, 5 years, but it was pretty packed and fun when I went. An enjoyable experience.

Back in the ninties seeing someone dailing at pay phone while looking at their beepers ..........was just as common as seeing someone figetting with their smarts phones today.

Proper cars.

This is real beautiful. However if i had to drive it any distance on a regular basis, i would want to install real brakes with ABS and EBD and radial tyres for control. I would also want a real engine and gearbox, probably a 7 or 8 speed with double clutch and tiptronic. Inside I would want a sound system. Yeah I think that would do perfect.

Did anyone here ever use a "book belt"?

When were they popular?

Im a child of the eighties and early nineties , we all had backpacks. I only remember seeing book belts in some of the cartoons I watched.

I had one of these in HS in the early ninties. I remember procrastinating to the last second to do my book report. I spent two whole days and nights reading the book and writing the report. I still remember being up at 4 am typing the report out.
