I will say one thing about Cormac. I've never known him to be rude or insulting to other posters on here, which is more than I can say about some people.

He mellowed wonderfully...and as I came to realize that he was actually a very kind person at heart, I developed a deep affection for him. Which I still have.

He was good at taking the piss, And once you figured out that he was as human as the rest of us, it changed me.

I hope he is well.

I'm also aware that there's a lot of off-forum friendships that are mutually sustaining.

I am still scratching my head about why a long-time member who has been at JUB for a decade is in a situation where no one knows whether he's okay or in a hospital or worse. It's hard to believe that there's no member who had a off-forum contact to check on him.

All that said, I still think you may have him in a hole in your basement.

We always talked here everyday because we were both always here. It was way easier than any other way. He was really private about himself personally. He never shared a photo. I personally don’t care what a person looks like so it didn’t matter to me as much as it does to his detractors on here. I always considered him a friend.

I do believe that he was born in Glasgow and moved to Edinburgh. His dad was Indian and his mom was Irish. That’s what he shared with me and on the site. Anything else he told me I reserve for his privacy.

BTW, Cormac’s joke threads were pretty obvious. He has a hilariously sarcastic sense of humor and is a very intelligent guy. I really miss his voice on this site. He never took anything too seriously, always had a good intelligent opinion to add and made an effort to respond to everyone’s threads and include everyone on the site. He was always one of the first to welcome new members and make them feel like they were wanted here.

He was one of the only members here that him and I consistently said that we loved each other, and meant it.

And I’ll add the Canada thing, he really loved teasing rareboy and gsdx about it. That’s all it was.

I think that as he was approaching 30 and after his mother died, he was realizing that he had life decisions he had to make on his own and his thoughts were maturing.

Yeah, I remember that too. Additionally, I think he posted that his father was a doctor, was deceased and that they never got on and that his mother lived in Spain.

When he first joined JUB as Benderboy, which I'd guess was in about 2010, he said he was about to graduate from university. I would expect him to have been at least 21 at that point. That would make him at least 33 now.

I agree, many of his claims were obviously fictitious, but a lot of people seemed to be taken in. Maybe there was the odd truth in the mix somewhere, rather like the Boy Who Cried Wolf, but clearly I was too dumb to spot it.

Maybe, but I recall in the very early days as Benderboy he posted a link to his purported online graduation ceremony. Some people (not me) watched it and tried to spot him but failed because (a) he wasn't really called Seth, (b) the photos then in his profile weren't of him and from what you say now (c) he didn't graduate for another three years. Priceless!

I'll be quick to say I miss Cormac. He was kindly toward me and was a constant on the forums.

I'm not altogether certain he isn't here now under a new user name, as the site really doesn't suppress puppet accounts as it says it does. This has been proven over and over.

Whether he and I have much in common isn't my care, really, as JUB needs diversity, but has been declining due to its tendency to allow harrying of the dissidents. We've run off women, trans, bi, ethnicities, conservatives, and who knows what other sectors as we've tolerated bullying by some members but not others.

When I joined some 15 years ago, Hot Topics was a foment of everything. Now, it's little more than a few surviors and a few propagandists for chosen politics.

If Cormac has left, it was from the tedium.
