I'm getting tired of starting new threads all the time, so from now on I will just update this one :o

So for reference the old ones:
A trip to the south
A snowy sunrise
Summer in and around the city

Also again a hint for your viewing pleasure: I am posting farily large pics, so if they are too big to fit on your screen, use ctrl+scrollwheel (or + / - ) to adjust them until they fit. Use ctrl+0 to go back to the normal zoom level.

This thread will be more or less chronological, I have much from this year already, but will select carefully and post more every now and then :)

So, spring came early this year and it was unusually warm. First effect of this was one of my bf's tortoises waking up from hibernation almost a month too early. Since temperatures were still varying a lot outside, we took him in until the overall temp got higher.

I never thought that tortoises could be so curious, but he wants to explore EVERYTHING. Here he is, crawling on my crotch...

Also tortoise-shaped was the gift voucher that I papercrafted for his birthday - we got to see giant see turtles :)

In May, we got a new pet. Meanwhile they grew up a bit, so here is a recent pic from Carlos:

Yes :luv:
Axolotl are a special kind of mole salamanders and unfortunately endemic to a lake near Mexico city. They are neotenic, which means they live their whole life as larvae and never get "landborn". However they can reproduce in their larva-form. Also they can regrow almost any body part that they might lose to a bigger predator or similar. Awesome little beasts!

Axolotl also means as much as "water monster" :)

Ooookay.

Mexican Larvae, non land bound salamander are an exotic pet in Germany how? :)

as they are almost extinct in nature, they are now basically exotic pets, everywhere. one of two lakes where they used to live is already gone, the other one .. being right next to mexico city ... is very dirty :(

There are not really much jubbers who have :p

Last few for today. Not a cute animal. But I still love taking pics of insects

They are beautiful pictures, Corny! I had tortoises when I was a child. My father built a large round stone walled enclosure in the home paddock and a tiled pond. They had some maple trees and a concrete shelter too. We quickly realised the grass needed to be kept short or the critters climbed up and over the rocks to freedom! My sister's tortoise, Emilie, was the largest, mine was James, and my father's was Herman - he was very little. Endless fascination for us. I think when we shifted farms, we set them free in the dam.

Your flatmate's rabbit is adorable.

When I scrolled down and saw the turtle it freaked me out for half a sec.

Oh, the axolotl has grown so much now it becomes manly ...I wonder when the feathery gills will disappear.

And I see you and your flatmate have been keeping TriBi in captivity
