Correlation between good looks and success

Looks definitely play a factor, other things being equal. Course that is never the real case. I know a few "good-looking" people that got hired at my place and were let go within 6 months because they have shit for brains. I may not be the prettiest or the most charismatic but my intellect is what keeps me working.

Amen. I agree that it's one thing to get the job and an entirely different matter to keep it. Not having to work for it can mean shallow knowledge and glossing too many important aspects of the job. Peter Principle comes to mind.

It's not a match between the beautiful idiot and the ugly genius. It's to compare relatively close people, within +-5-10% of each other in education, competence, etc. The one who is the more handsome is the one who has statistically more chance to have a rise and/or to climb higher in the hierarchy and more rapidly.

It's human nature, you want to please and overlook menial mistakes from a beautiful person more than if he/she's ugly.

I think, to women, being more attractive can lead to more success, of course this comes from discrimination. For men, it doesn't seem to be as apparent. However, being more attractive does let you reap more rewards in the world. Little things that people might not even notice.
