Covers that were worse than the original

(Turn up the volume at your own risk!!)

(Here's that 'volume' warning again!)

OMG what a great discovery: it's a mixture of Mado Robin and Florence Foster Jenkins :rotflmao:

And they would complain about the hypersexed-up minxes being marketed as legitimate singers today...

British girl-group the All Saints also released a cover of "Lady Marmalade", which was a U.K. No. 1 in 1998.

Chart factoid: It was a double A-side with "Under the Bridge" - itself a cover of the Red Hot Chili Peppers song.

Oh and that Christina Aguilera / Lil Kim / Mya / Pink cover was also a U.K. No. 1 in 2002. I don't think the original ever was.
Just because those covers reached No. 1 on the charts doesn't mean they're good.

Just heard this version. Damn, it sucks.

The Madonna version doesn't sound so bad, now does it? I have to admit I like the Madonna version.

Life In A Northern Town. Could only find the Live version for Sugarland, but it lacks so much compared to the Dream Academy original.

Pat Boone routinely covered songs by Black artists . But again, Black music was "race music," and White audiences did not want to hear Black singers. So pat Boone's version was sanitized (and pitiful).

Now hear little Richard's version which was far better - but too Black for White audiences

See, some things actually DO change for the better.

Figures it gets better if Tutti Frutti is sung by a fruit.
