How long did it take you to get use to wearing the mask?![]()
Many a week. Month or two at most

I'll never make it. I am so damn tired.![]()

Is it the mask that is bothering you or the CPAP/BiPAP machine itself?
There are several mask options that they can try. What I've heard from patients is that once they found the mask that worked for them, they hit such a deep sleep that their awareness of the mask went away fairly quick.
There's also features on the machine itself that gradually increase the pressure while you sleep. Sometimes it helps to fall asleep and then have the pressure increase after you're asleep.
AAST has a FAQ with the most common complaints that pretty much agrees with what I've heard:

For clarity it was mainly the hose that was the issue, but it dangles from the end, so. I still think it's considerably too short, I'm sure I've helped along the destruction of several masks that way.
Then you might try their suggestion of wearing the mask during the day while watching TV or doing routine tasks that distract your mind. When you get to the point where you can wear the mask during the day comfortably, then try putting on the mask an hour or so before bedtime then when you go to bed, just hook it up and see if it's easier to fall asleep.I just don't like having the mask on. I am averaging 3.8 hours a night with the mask on and they want me at 4 hours.
Well I did 4.8 hours last night with the mask on and I feel rested. I think I may have been wearing the head gear a bit wrong.
It does take some getting used to - especially if you keep your head shaved. For a while there I was using a soft cap to decrease skin irritation.
Then may I suggest a strap setup like this one? No chinstrap involved, much more comfortable.

They can be found for cheaper, but it seemed the first accurate picture of equipment like my own.
