Cracker Barrel Restaurants

They're sort of nice in the winter. Have a big old fireplace that's very homey. I think the food generally sucks. Way too much salt and fat. I'm not a big fan.

Next time you get the urge to eat at Cracker Barrel, just eat a jar of Crisco, then ask some homophobe to beat you senseless.

Lex

or - YOU could just rub the crisco on my cock and beat me off.
I've never seen a cracker barrell - (they wouldn't dare come this far north - then they'd have to worry about seating Italians and possibly Canadians.... good grief. But if they do show up on the outskirts - NO FUCKING WAY IM GOING --
(just needed to be "on record" for that one)

SOMEBODY IS STILL EATING THERE !!
Commenting on the second-quarter results, Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, Inc.
Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Michael A. Woodhouse said,
"Although we continue to tightly manage our costs, our greatest opportunity for
growth is to keep improving the guest experience. This includes reducing the
time from seat-to-eat, offering new menu choices and presenting an appealing
retail assortment. Our guests understand the value proposition that Cracker
Barrel represents, as evidenced by the fact that we continue to outperform the
Knapp-Track index."

If their image is that of what a "traditional family" of a man/woman and children, then I am fine with it. Why do we need to try and take over the world? It's not them and us you know... we need to try and live together. I don't need anyone or any corporation to "accept" what I am or what I believe.

We each can believe what we want, but it is not necessary to try and "boycott" everyone that doesn't agree with our lifestyles. All that does is give them MORE power over us by us acting offended and it will just fuel the fire.

I happen to like the Cracker Barrel with they fried extra greasy chircken and fixin's! Leave Cracker Barrel ALONE! (lol)

Really, it's not what people call you, it's what you answer too. If the gay community as a whole can get the big chip of their shoulder (same with Black folks) and live life regardless of what you think other people think of you, then you can have a much better and more productive life.

What you think of yourself only empowers others to join you in thinking that as well.

Really, it's not what people call you, it's what you answer too.

It's not just about what someone calls you. It's about losing your job b/c you're employer finds out your gay. It's about not getting hired b/c the potential employer suspects you're gay. It's about having a meal w/ your family, and hearing the waitstaff call you a faggot while pointing at you in front of your family and the other customers. It's about being asked to leave a restaurant, even though you're a paying customer like everyone else, just b/c you're gay.

CB's employee policy previously stated that the employee's had to show "normal hetero values which have been the foundation of families in our society." It was changed a few years ago.

CB is well known for its history of discrim policies incl. those against African Americans.

I agree w/ you that the food is good, I just won't eat there. I know some people who still love it and frequent the business anyway.

Well...in states where employment non-discrimination is the law, NOBODY, including Cracker Barrel, can get away with it.

Unfortuanately, most states don't have such laws. My former state, New Jersey, does. My current state, Pennsylvania, doesn't.

Cracker Barrel is OK for breakfast, where cholesterol-laden foods are the norm. But my last visit to my local one (Plymouth Meeting, PA) wasn't as good as previous ones. I'm not a regular.

I have worked for Cracker Barrel for 8 years. Started as a cook and am now a Manager. I can't speak for the history of the company but I can say that I have not witnesses any of the discrimination I have heard of on the internet.

The controversy that prompted this resolution dates back to 1991, when Cracker Barrel's then vice president of human resources issued a memo without senior corporate approval.

"It is inconsistent with our concept and values, and is perceived to be inconsistent with those of our customer base, to continue to employ individuals in our operating units whose sexual preferences fail to demonstrate normal heterosexual values which have been the foundation of families in our society," the memo stated.

Cheryl Summerville was one of at least 11 employees who lost their jobs due to this policy. "This employee is being terminated due to violation of company policy," her pink slip stated. "The employee is gay."

The company later retracted this policy, but refused to bar sexual orientation discrimination.

Normally I would say if a company changes a discriminatory policy, they deserve a little support. But not if it took them 10 years, and they were major assholes about it.

I definitely will continue to boycott (not that I would have gone there anyway)...

EDIT: and by the way, we all know there are a lot of homophobic businesses. But I'm having trouble thinking of any others that had it written right in their policy book. That's fucked up...

This is the easiest place in the world to boycott. The food stinks.

Don't they have an age requirement to get in before the "Early Bird Special" premiers at 3:30 pm?
