One officer was injured in a car accident (evidently two police cars collided).

I suppose now the Republicans will introduce a resolution to fund the Capitol Police during the shutdown. They seem to want everything open even as they want the government shut down.

Obama says he won't negotiate. He wants it all. I think a resolution has already been introduced and possibly passed at the request of the representative from DC -- the only opposition was from fellow democrats.

There's nothing to negotiate. Obama already got it "all" when the law was passed and was upheld by the Supreme Court. If the GOP wants their inconveniences to end, they can cease their unconstitutional tantrum of a shutdown.

I don't know where you live and what they do in your local news market but here in Silicon Valley and the rest of the very liberal SF Bay Area race is not mentioned unless there is a description of the suspect at large and it is important to the story.

The race of this woman is NOT relevant to this story. She isn't wanted...she is dead.

So it appears that she tried to breach one of the gates to the White House by ramming it with her car, and then got chased to the Hill where she shot a policeman then apparently was shot herself.

Of course Congress had to stop doing nothing for the duration.

He won't negotiate on the ACA, of course. That would be crazy.

Democrats have offered to negotiate on the budget, which, presumably, is what a continuing budget resolution is all about. Boehner has rejected discussing the budget with democrats. He wants to talk about the ACA. He refuses to negotiate the budget until the ACA is repealed, defunded, or delayed.

He wants it all.

By "all," I presume you mean he wants to enforce the laws that Congress has passed, and that he has signed.

I'm not clear on how that's a problem.

To date, amendments have been introduced to the continuing budget resolution to:

1) Restore funding for national parks.

2) Restore funding for Veterans Affairs.

3) Restore funding for NIH.

4) Restore funding for the District of Columbia.

5) Restore pay for certain National Guard and National Reserve members (but not all).


No doubt, more amendments to the continuing budget resolution will yet be forthcoming by Republicans. But, if all of these government functions are so important that they need immediately to be resumed, why did you shut them down in the first place?

Identity of the dead perpetrator is certainly important Jack, skin color is not relevant to such an identity. Say maybe this will help you.... if it was a white women would you have felt it necessary to illustrate the point? Or would that make her normal like you?
