As a former "straight" guy, who was curious, I feel qualified to answer this.

They were likely just curious for that close contact and comfort, not for anything sexual, just to be touched and kissed. They could not do it with other straight guys. They trusted you. Look at it this way - you made someone happy.

For some guys (such as me) it develops into more sexual curiosity, or it was deeply suppressed to begin with. For others, they might never do it again. Probably now someone might be thinking "15 years ago this gay buddy would cuddle me, play with my hair and kiss me" and they're probably married with kids, can't tell anyone.
