So i wouldn't call myself a "gamer" or a "computer guy" but i really wanted a nice computer and decided to go with cyberpower due to the fact that i could customize the computer almost any way i wanted and get it shipped to my doorstep. There was an option to expedite shipping which i did not get, why didn't i get the faster shipping?!

So long story short it took three weeks to come through the mail, when i got it, everything seemed to work but i was concerned that my hard drive was connected but just laying around. 7 days after i got it, it completely crashed. i called them, they told me i couldn't return it! so i tried to get it repaired! it took a week to get the shipping label, them a whole month to get it back again. THEY REPLACED EVERYTHING EXCEPT THE DAMN VIDEOCARD! got it back and it was still broken that night! i was told that if i would have paid for the faster shipping, one of their experienced techs would look over and test the computer.. whatever! so good thing im in the military and bought it through aafes. i got to send it back and used that money to buy (an overpriced but reliable) alienware computer and i have been happy since

MORAL OF THE STORY DON'T BUY FROM CYBERPOWER!

p.s. there is so much more to the story about customer service and their terrible return policy, seperate warehouses, build quality, and the whole experience itself, but i wont get into all that. point being i wanted to let some fellow tech guys know about a terrible company that doesn't deserve hard earned money until they change their products, after all this is a recesion ](*,)

I'll keep in mind when upgrading my computer. I've always been scared of stuff not working right so that's why I always just wait until they come out with a good enough computer for gaming or just upgrade small bits and pieces of my computer.

I did purchase memory through Crucial and they've always been grade A in giving me advice on what kind of memory I need to purchase for my computer. Sorry to hear your computer crashed. I think it might be best to search for reviews on a certain website, people always have problems like yours and they usually post their review on how bad or good the website is.

YES! MAN THERE SHOULD BE A THREAD ABOUT COMPANIES TO AVOID! lol this is crazy

Thats one of the powerful features about the consumer reviews on Newegg.com. To a lessor extent Amazon or Tiger Direct (compUSA, Circuit City)

The problem you describe with the hard drive just laying around is reading over and over in the reviews on Newegg with ibuypower, Cyberpower PCs (though they get some decent reviews so they must be a bit better).

There are a lot of nonsense bad reviews given over simple problems that are more likely the part of the consumer but after a while you can see trends. As you describe with lose parts or extremely pitiful shipping.

At one time I was considering one of these machines or a decently equipped certificated ASUS machine but there were just too many complainants about things not being hooked up or defective.

There was enough bad reviews on better equipped machines to convince me to take the plunge and try building one myself. No regrets on that. One of the few smart things I've ever done. Based on reviews at those sites I built a machine that met my needs from case, psu, (another really weak point on Cyberpower custom machines = suck asa psu). & OS. The parts arrived quickly the actual first build too me about 2 hrs and then a couple days with software. There are risk of course if you have a defective part you must trouble shoot as well as handle the software install but I promise you that I've not had to send anything back and in that same time likely you are still dealing with resolving a issue plus shipping. It saved several hundred dollars over a similar brand or custom build which is still going to come with a suck ass psu and that is a vital part of the build along with the cards and other hardware that always are very cheap and low rated power.
