James Brolin and Diane Ladd are in negotiations to play Ewing family parents Jock and Miss Ellie in the revamped Dallas movie project. Directors and cast quit the film at the beginning of 2007, leaving signed-up star Luke Wilson to comment he felt the film adaptation of the 1980s TV soap would never be made. Wilson is reportedly still onboard, as is John Travolta, who has been cast as oil tycoon villain J.R. Ewing - and now a few more gaps are being filled, with Doctor Dolittle director Betty Thomas at the helm. According to website CinemaBlend.com, Brolin has already agreed to play the part of Jock Ewing, the role played by the late Jim Davis in the TV series. Minka Kelly is reportedly in talks to replace Jennifer Lopez as Pamela Ewing, while Julie Benz has been offered the part of J.R.'s wife Sue Ellen Ewing.

Revolta? Are you kidding? He's no more JR Ewing than he's Miss Ellie. Sounds like a horribly mis-casted project. Count me out unless it gets better. (Although Luke Wilson is yummy.)

Well I'm glad the rumour that Marcia Cross was gonna play my beloved Pam is history. I never liked that one. :grrr:

Although I'm not sure who this Minka Kellie is, I think it's a better idea to use some unknowns for these roles.

I remember hearing rumors that at one time Jennifer Lopez was to play Sue Ellen but she later changed her mind. Don't know if it's true or not.

It is true that, in 2005, Lopez was to play Sue Ellen.

For awhile I found this to be a very puzzling choice. But if you have ever lived in Dallas, you know that the Latina population is huge and that they might play this from that angle: rich, caucasian J.R. Ewing marries beautiful Latina from the wrong side of the tracks.

But that is kinda the way the Bobby and Pam love story was first played out when it hit our TV screens 29 years ago.

I don't think these "Dallas" people know what they wanna do. Just let us enjoy the good memories we have of the TV show that lasted from 1978-1991.

That had to be pegged as far-fetched from the beginning. Between her role on Desperate Housewives, being expected to be there frequently to make up for the time she was absent bringing her pregnancy to term, and taking care of the baby when said pregnancy is over and she delivers, one must expect that she's gotta be too busy for something like that these days...

and they blame illegal downloading that people don't to the movies anymore.

a dallas movie???

hollywood sucks now
