bidude, I agree that the show is better than it was in 2005 and 2006 when it was complete and utter sewage waste.

But it's gonna take more than a few weeks to get back where it was circa 1992 or 93 (when it was the No. 2 show on daytime).

Speaking of the ratings, "AMC" has been ABC's lowest-rated soap every year for the past twelve months and for the week ending Nov. 9, things aren't improving:

I just wrote on the Dixie thread how I just gave up AMC and OLTL. I have been watching on and off since the 70's. But it is the worst it has ever been. AMC is really fucked up and poorly written. The Kendal/Green lee shit is absurd and Zach/ Ryan are idiots. This show needs help a.s.a.p.!!! I'm sad to give them up but it makes me made when I watch. I hope someone kills off Annie and Kendal!! Especially Annie. What a freaky odd cunt. Her brother is way hot though. Almost worth watching the show over....almost.

I started watching amc in 1972 and hated to miss it. But I quit (cold turkey) 6 weeks ago and find I do not miss it at all. The plot is stupid. Some of the characters are unbelievable. It just takes too much time to get any advance in time whatsoever. And the Greenlee subplot is pathetic. I do not know if I will ever try to watch it again, but I do not think so right now. The whole show needs to be revamped or thrown out completly.

As soon as they knocked off Dixie earlier this year, I quit. They tossed out the head writer but too little too late for me. It was abysmal.

Of course I go to www.amcpages.com weekly to read the synopsis of what happened the week ahead...

I may, MAY, one day watch it again. Right now, they've got a rudder, but it needs to be righted.

I stopped watching All My Children (and One Life To Live) after the Kendall/Babe/Kelly baby storyline that was going on during both shows, became over played by like a full-year. It was just unwatchable and became stale.

I watch or dvr AMC every day .. somedays I'll turn it off or fast foreward . Othertimes , I kick back and enjoy the program ....
I'm just getting tired of Kendall and her over reacting to every little thing ...
I don't like Annie .. everyone feels sorry for her ; but if someone lied and put me in prison for seven years ..I'd be pissed also .... Hope she gets bumped off ...

Took the words right out of my soap-opera loving mouth.

And as much as I hate to admit it, my visits to Pine Valley are far less frequent than they used to be and I, too, don't miss it at all.

It doesn't seem that there is any great pay-off coming from any of these ever-so-annoying storylines that are currently culminating to a climax (?).

( nothing could be as bad as that storyline from late 2005 which featured crossdressing Zoe falling in love with lesbian Bianca !!! )

Internet gossip is is that Jacob Young who has played "J.R. Chandler" for the past 4.5 years is thisclose to announcing that he will be leaving the show at the start of the new year. Doesn't surprise me one bit. In fact, I'm surprised he stayed as long as he did. The super-hunk was getting really hot on "The Bold & The Beautiful" in the late '90's, he then jumped ship to "General Hospital" where he won an Emmy but stayed there for only two years before finding a new home in Pine Valley.

"Kendall" for six years now, Alicia Minshew has almost made people think, "Sarah Michelle Who?" but even she has complained that the show has been shoving "Kendall" down everybody's throats for the past year and there's a strong possibility that she's out the door as well.

They hardly use him at all in the show. I thought he would end up with Green lee. I did love Bianca though. Hated the Zoe shit. I thought I saw on the cover of Soap digest that Angie and Jesse would return? Jesse is way dead and even played an angel(so dumb)in 1994. Will they really do this? Maybe they can get Jenny back now that the actress is getting older and drunker. Could you see Jenny blowing into town?! Than Greg would follow. I watched when she died and than returned with Jesse as an angel(ick) and would watch if she returned. I loved the Tad/Jenny/Jesse/Angie stories. I miss the Langly/Phoebe stuff. But that's old school. And those two would really have to return from the dead. The show also lost a good part when Mona died. I read Mertle is pretty sick right now.

They need to beg Julia Barr's forgiveness and bring her back. Feature Brooke in a central storyline involving Tempo, with her and Tad as investigative partners.

Although Palmer is getting up there in age, he still has a little fight left in him. Get him and Opal some screen time again. Bring back Nina so he can meddle in her life.

Yeah, tiger, "Young & Restless" first snagged a hold of the No. 1 slot on the ratings in December of 1988.

If it can keep that hold until this upcoming December of 2008, it will tie a 20-year-record with "As The World Turns" as the longest continuous run at No. 1.

From 1958 to 1978, ATWT was the No. 1 rated soap on daytime TV. Back in the days when there was 12-17 daytime soaps on the air.

The Story line with Jen, Lindsay was good. I am kind of tired of ever so often Vickie multiple personalities take over. That is getting old. Even with her daughter.
Y&R tends to keep you in suspense. But like I said earlier. The writing is not as good. I miss Cricket. I wish they bring back Ashley sister who is a writer. Bring some of the old into the new.

Jen sucked. She was a terrible character, and the "hactress" (Jessica Morris) couldn't act her way out of a paper sack. Bitch used to nervously rush through her lines, like she was on some kind of high. And she was vapid and bleak to boot. The ABC Soap newsgroup used to slaughter her on a daily basis. Glad she's gone! They didn't need to go as far as to KILL her character off, but still....the show is better w/o her.

Seriously though I think you're both right. When Morris came onto the show in 2001 she was pretty bad. And that character did a lot of horrific stuff that over-rode how bad of an actress she was.

But of course she went throught that metamorphis that all bitches go through on daytime (becoming a good character, yawwwn) but for some reason around 2004 right after Morris had ditched Joey Buchanan and later became confused between her feelings for Riley and Rex, I dunno, she just seemed to be a much better actress. And she commanded sympathy -- at least from me. I personally feel, she was so much better by the time she left in May of 2005.

Some of you who think OLTL is "good"... need to get your eyes checked out. OLTL is by far the worst soap on daytime TV right now, and I don't give a f_ck what the ratings say. OLTL has the same boring ass old storylines like Todd and Blair making up, cheating on each other, breaking up, saving lives, and making up again. John is by far the ugliest man on daytime. Dorian is an annoying nasty ass bitch and David is sick for even being interested in that trash. Bo & Nora are pathetic losers. The Vega whores, oops I mean brothers, CANNOT ACT! Dorian used to be my favorite. I adored her back in 1993 when Robin Strasser reclaimed the role from Elaine Princi, and Dorian entered into that very nasty fued with Viki and Sloan over that book he wrote accusing her of murdering Victor. I wish I had some of those episodes saved.

But I don't know, I've been kind of hot and cold with her ever since she came back this most recent time. She's not as juicy and villain-y as she used to be, and instead is more shrill and harpy.

Robin Strasser is totally wonderful in my book but sadly this new millennium Dorian Lord is like a cartoon character of what she really was.

I actually didn't start watching "One Life To Live" until 1992 so I don't know what she was like in the 1978-87 run but I can only remember one time over the past 15 years that I have been watching that I really considered to be a super bitch and that was circa 1993 when she hired that young Llanview college girl to falsely accuse Vicki's fiancee Sloan Carpenter of rape. Now that was bad. Shame on you, Dorain!
