It was recently announced, that Brooke Burke-Charvet who co-hosted Dancing with the Stars with Host Tom Bergeron won't be back. Also musical conductor from the show, Harold Wheeler, and his band also won't be back. It looks like they are trying to cut costs, Since the show has been on awhile and I don't think the ratings are that big. I do prefer that they cut the show down to one night only. The show returns on Monday, March 17 and I haven't as yet heard who will be on the show. Anyone else hear anything about the upcoming new season?

I just read online, Tomorrow, Monday, Feb 24 Dancing with the Stars new co-host with Tom Bergeron, is going to be announced that it is Erin Andrews. She competed on the show and came in third place. Can't wait to hear who the celebrities will be and who the dancers will be. Anyone have any insight?

I heard somewhere on tv that they asked Bill Clinton. just a rumor tho. looking forward to the cast announcements too!

Read that the stars will be announced sometime next week on Good Morning America

They already cut it to one day a week last season. Although they claim they're trying to attract younger viewers to the show, this just sounds like cost cutting to me.

This show will never attract a younger crowd. The joke about it has always been: "why isn't this on CBS with all the other old folk's shows."

Season 18 of DWTS will start on Monday, March 17. For the first time the show will feature a twist, called the "switch up." America will be given the vote to change celebrities and professional dance pairings. This new rule will affect all couples as they will be required to switch partners at some point during the season. This should make it very interesting and more challenging.
The celebrities and the professional dance pairs this season are:
Sean Avery and Karina Smirnoff
Candace Cameron Bure and Mark Ballas
Drew Carey and Cheryl Burke
Meryl Davis and Maksim Cherkovskiy
Nene Leakes and Tony Dovolani
James Maslow and Peta Murgatroyd
Danica McKellar and Valentin Chermokovskiy
Diana Nyad and Henry Byalikov
Amy Purdy and Derek Hough
Cody Simpson and Witney Carson
Charlie White and Sharna Burgess
Billy Dee Williams and Emma Slater
I am glad they cut it down to 2 hours one day a week. It makes the show better.

I'm glad Brooke Burke is gone; I never thought she was a good hostess. She always asked the most stupid questions. But Harold Wheeler being gone is a shocker. The band has always done a fine job and I believe much of the show's success is due to them.

The new cast is sad. No shocker here.

And I see Maks is back, after he theoretically left the show for good a couple seasons ago.

It is so much better without Brooke Burke Charvet. She was awful as a co-host with Tom Bergeron. Erin Andrews is so much better. She has experience working for ESPN and has more personality than Brooke. The first show on Monday night was great. It will be interesting to see who goes home. Diana Nyad and Billy Dee Williams received the lowest votes. But as we all know, that does not mean they will be sent home. It all depends on the fans voting.
James Maslow from Big Time Rush is such a hottie. As is Australian singer, Cody Simpson, who is only 17. James Maslow is paired with Peta Murgatroyd and they dated in the past. Next week the twist to the show will be announced where all the celebrities which switch dance partners. That will make for an interesting dynamic to the show.
Anybody else watching Season 18? What do you think of the dancers so far?

I was underwhelmed by the premiere. It just felt weird. One reason was the obvious absence of the Harold Wheeler Band, who were fired because they are old (seriously). In all the previous 17 seasons, everyone always praised the band. And now they are suddenly out, without a word mentioned of it.

Tristan MacManus was also undeservedly given the boot for no apparent reason. Maybe to make room for Maks to return . . .who is looking good, but desperate to make a comeback after an attempt at a different career in showbiz went nowhere fast.

The show has survived this long without needing big changes, so it doesn't make much sense why all the changes now. Even though ratings have slightly dropped over the years, they were still considered as very high ratings that other shows would be envious to have.

Tom Bergeron did mention that Harold Wheeler and his band and singers are gone and they have a new musical director and Band led by Ray Chew. I do think Harold Wheeler was much better, but we will have to see.
Overall I think the show was great. Amy Purdy was amazing and deserved a standing ovation that she got. It was also great to see Maks back. They also mentioned that they will have celebrity judges again. Also all the celebrities will be changing professional dance partners. They are shaking the show up a bit. Which is definitely needed with this being Season 18. We will have to see how the rest of the season pans out.

They cut B.B. Charvet because she was boring as yesterday's dog dung. The ratings are higher than ever, they just need the mid-level artists to do their part.

It's a shame that Billy Dee Williams had to drop out of the show this past week, due to injuries and his Dr.'s orders. Next Monday is the change up and it will be interesting to see how the celebrities do. It's only for one week and then they go back to their original professional dance partners. Meryl almost got a perfect score this week with a 39. She could be the one to beat or she could peak too soon like others in the past have and go home early. I think all the celebrity dancers are really good this season. It makes for a better and more interesting show to watch.

I thought this past week's switch up was interesting and a nice twist to the show. All the celebrities did quite well considering they had a different professional partner. No one was eliminated this past week. So both scores from the last week and this past week get added together and someone will be eliminated this week. It was nice to see Julianne Hough sit in as a guest judge this past week. Anyone have any thoughts about this past week's switch up?
