Now that you mention it, I seem to remember that Zellwood and the Lake Apopka area used to be a big agricultural area, growing lots of vegetables, but they seem to have ruined the soil by the overuse of pesticides and fertilizers. It's great that you have your Mom around. I lost mine quite a few years ago.

Oh yes, I remember it now, there were concerns that Lake Apopka was labeled a "dead lake." We even studied it in college. I hope that's not too much a concern where you live.

Well, they've been working on the lake for years now. It's better, but they have a long way to go. They closed and flooded all of the muck farms around the Lake. They were there since WW2 to grow veggies for the war effort.

Downtown Orlando was busy on Saturday. Come Out with Pride had about 230,000, plus a huge No King's protest. I haven't heard the numbers yet.

Wesh NBC covered the parade live. It was over 1 1/2 hours long. Surprised I saw 8-10 churches in the parade. I was actually on the board that created COWP in 2005. We thought October would be much better weather for a celebration.

It looks like it's going to get cooler this week. They're saying it will be in the upper 50s here on Halloween morning, so I know it will get chilly where you are.

I'll agree that having Come Out With Pride in October is a better time of year to have it. The local Pridefest in West Palm takes place in March, which is much milder than June. I remember that Tampa and St. Petersburg always had their Prides at the end of June when I lived out there, when it is ungodly hot and humid.
