DantheManFL Appreciation Thread.

Hi, Dan. (*8*) I hope you are okay, and will have a lovely and relaxing weekend.

I’m doing well, and will be in bed very soon.

What are we? Barbarians drinking warm martinis?

Good Monday afternoon, Dan! (*8*)

Yeah, it looks like we've got another hurricane to deal with. From what I've seen so far, it looks like the Orlando area where you live will only get a glancing blow, so hopefully you'll be OK. I'm a bit more worried about the Tampa Bay Area, where my ex and his husband live, which looks like Idalia will pass pretty close, and areas like Cedar Key and Gainesville, which right now look to be in the direct path of a major hurricane-- those are areas which haven't been hit in a long time.

Yeah, my Brother lives in Tarpon Springs, looks like a direct hit. We offered for him to come over here.

Hey Ron!

We survived the hurricane! We're still under tornado watch, and had a few tornado warnings during the night.

Only time I really heard the wind was when a strong band was coming through about 5:00 am.

It's in GA. now, I hope everyone stays safe. Oh, and we still have electric! (!)

Here's an area a few blocks from my brother in Tarpon Springs. This is where the sponge divers and boats dock. (Google) He's on higher ground so no flooding or damage.

Hi, Dan. (*8*) I am so relieved that you, your brother and family have all survived the hurricane. I’m hoping the tornadoes will not affect you either.
I’m okay and just relaxing this evening.

Good Thursday afternoon, Dan! (*8*)

I'm glad that you and your brother are safe after the hurricane. I've been on that street in Tarpon Springs. It looks like they got a couple of feet of storm surge, which they were expecting. For the rest of you, Tarpon Springs is a tourist trap on the Gulf just north of St. Petersburg, where Greek sponge fishermen sell their wares. Though of course, it's become a bit bigger than that.

Speaking of Tarpon Springs, for those of you who like to look at hot young male flesh, they have an event on Epiphany (Jan. 6), where the Greek Orthodox archbishop throws a cross into a spring, and all the local 18-19 year old Greek boys dive into the spring to look for the cross. The boy who finds the cross and brings it up is supposed to have good luck for the year or some such thing.

Don't get discouraged about JUB, Dan! I think there/s only a handful of regulars that check into the Member Appreciation forum, but I've felt like I'm getting to know the few of you that come in here often. It's a lot nicer than say, the Hot Topics forum, where people are constantly arguing with each other.
