How's it going everybody? I'm in need of a little help, thank God it's not really relationship help, more of general help. So I'm currently seeing this guy, not official boyfriends (yet..hopefully!) but we're great for each other and everything is going well so far.

One problem is that due to a few pretty big factors, it's hard for us to find stuff to do together. I know it sounds odd, how can you be seeing each other with nothing to do? Our relationship is very tricky, but I'll spare you the details. We pretty much go out to eat and that's about all we do. And on top of that, we live in an area where there really isn't a lot of things to do. I am in serious need of some ideas as to what else we can do, preferably away from our homes so that we can continue spend time with each other.

One of us is still pretty in the closet, which isn't a problem, so it's not like we get intimate in public. But we're not afraid to be seen together or anything like that.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. If you've got personal experiences you'd like to share, please do! Anything will help cause I'm drawing a blank.

Also, I'm older than the guy I'm seeing, and I can't help but sort of feel like it's awkward for him in situations like when we're out to dinner and the paying situation comes up Obviously it'd be best to kind of alternate paying, which we do so I know he's all for that, but I sort of think it makes him a little nervous lol. Not really sure what I'm asking here but any advice would be great.

Re: Date ideas?

where do you live?

Do you live near a city? Go to a club/bar? Take a art class or something together? Gym? Take a dance class? Zumba? Since it's summer, go hiking/kayaking/camping. Beach?

I guess I'd have to know the"pretty big factors" that make it difficult for you guys, because if they'd involve health issues, for example, choices would be different than, let's say, the closet issue. Speaking of which, you might just want to take a ride occasionally to somewhere were there is more to do.

Do you guys have bikes? I recently for the first time went on an epic bike ride with my guy and it was sooo much fun. Hiking is also great, but I don't know if you guys drive/are into nature or athletics.

I'm a big fan of being outside in nature so I like to go to parks, nature reserves, lakes, swamps, trails, etc.

If either of you are in a place that you can paint, I found painting a room was a great bonding experience when I was dating women years ago. Turn on some music and get to work. It's a great way to talk, and then when you two are in that room, the memories of doing it together come to the surface.

Else - parks, long drives, walks, going someplace you both have never been to.

Cooking a meal together can be fun.

I don't care the sexes involved, how emotionally intimate a "date" is, is all in the mind.

The NE has so much to do. If you are in NY, drive up and around NW Connecticut - simply beautiful. Drive around the hudson valley. See the mansions at Rhode Island. Drive to Boston. Go explore historical sites.

Take a map and draw a "two hour drive" circle on it. Then one of you close your eyes, and put a pin in the map. Then drive there and explore.

On the tension re. paying. Have you talked about it and the feelings involved?
