Mommy and Daddy must be so proud of their little girl:

Call it the biggest Facebook mistake ever. A daughter’s snarky status update has cost her father the $80,000 settlement he won in an age-discrimination lawsuit.

According to the Miami Herald, Patrick Snay, 69, was the headmaster at Gulliver Preparatory School in Miami for several years, but in 2010, the school didn’t renew his contract. Snay sued his former employer for age discrimination and won a settlement of $80,000 in November 2011. The agreement contained a standard confidentiality clause, prohibiting Snay or the school from talking about the case.

However, Snay’s daughter, Dana, now at Boston College and a part-time Starbucks barista, couldn’t resist bragging about the case on Facebook. “Mama and Papa Snay won the case against Gulliver,” she wrote. “Gulliver is now officially paying for my vacation to Europe this summer. SUCK IT.”

^I hope they make that spoiled brat get a job at McDonalds to pay for the whole family to go next year, out of her pocket. It's sad that the family has to suffer(okay, SUFFER is not the right word at all, hear me out), but this is what happens why you don't reign in loose lips.

*cue the "see, this is why I don't have Facebook" posts*

^ The results would have been the same. The father wasn't even supposed to discuss it with his daughter. No matter who she told or how she told it, the contract was still breached.

...I think I have maybe one or two more good facebook rants in me....

I wish I would have thought of THIS when I was on a facebook hating roll...damn....I would have at least thrown it in there with the rest of my excuses..|

At least you took it with humor...

The whole family got what it deserved. I'd venture the lawsuit was bogus to begin with, and the school only settled because they were afraid of what a sympathetic Florida jury would award.

I guess the last laugh is on her. Gulliver Prep School is laughing all the way to the bank and is probably updating their status as we speak. Something that ends with "SUCK IT" is apropo.

I also wonder if the daughter updated her status asking for travel donations?

So what is the moral of this story?

Guilty but keep quiet is ok?
Guilty but not keep quiet is not ok ?

If you ever needed a reason why I am averse to "social media": Exhibit A.

Two kinds of people in the world: people who walk into a room and say "here I am !" ....
and people who walk into a room and say "there you are! "

But how could she not have known? That's a bit ridiculous.

If I had been the judge, I would have just cut the award in half and stipulated the daughter couldn't benefit from a penny of it.

That daughter is a real piece of work, but her parents raised her to be who she is, so tough shit for them.

What is up with a 69yo man having a college age daughter, anyway? And, how could she take/use his retirement/old age money for a trip to . . . anywhere?

Where is the mother in all of this, and how old is she? The whole family seems revolting.

Parents aren't the only people who shape their kids.

Yes, lots of kids have just one parent. Or absent parents or dopey parents.

This kid says "suck it!" :?
