Did you see those superb scenes between Stefano and Marlena on Friday?
FIERCE!!
I'm glad I'm not the only one still watching the show.
I've been wondering for awhile... "What do the old people in Salem have to do now that will occupy their time?" Especially after John's death, it hit that the show is really stretching it to keep the old timers around. Hope can stick around due to the Shawn/Belle/Philip triangle and what she knows. Bo is valuable because of "Who shot E.J. Wells?" And now MARLENA! I LOVED Friday's show and when she showed up at Stefano's. And the best thing about it... it didn't feel forced. Stefano and Marlena DO have this sordid past, and with John dead, I smell a new focus on the horizon. I had been wondering (again) since Stefano's return to Salem if anyone would address Stefano's obsession with her and compare it to the Sami/E.J. relationship (even though I think Sami/E.J. could work...give it some time ;-)).
Anyways, I'm staying faithful to the show. It's the only soap I watch now (no DirecTV means no Passions for me) and I'll see it through.
Storylines that BUG me:
1)
Shawn/Belle/Philip- Fans who have been with the show for the past five years can attest to this: the original Shawn & Belle would NOT be in the same predicament. Neither of the actors conveyed the sense of idiocy that the current Shawn & Belle convey scene after troubled scene. The sad thing is... I do believe it with the current couple. I can see that THIS Belle is having a hard time being faithful to Shawn. I can see that THIS Shawn really is pigheaded and doesn't think before he speaks. I just need more umph in this storyline. I just want Belle and Philip to get over themselves. We all know that Shawn & Belle do belong together. That piece of shit they called a wedding on Friday isn't the wedding any of us pictured for the couple. Since they were young high schoolers, you knew they were destined to be the next supercouple. Too bad they don't act like it.
2)
Chelsea, Stephanie, & Salem U- Days is attempting to portray college life and its complexities.

I don't think they know how to pull it off properly. I'm incredibly disinterested. I was more interested when Jeremy was around. By the way, where is he?
3)
Kayla/Steve- I simply don't care about these two. I'm glad we've moved on from the brainwashing days, and I don't want to revisit them. Steve annoys me. Kayla is ok, but I don't see why she's around. Eh.
4) Abe/Lexie- It hasn't returned yet. DON'T BRING IT BACK. They are boring.
Storylines of semi-interest:
1)
Jet/Chelsea/Nick- a) Jet is HOT!!!! b) Jet is smart. c) Because I don't think Chelsea and Nick are match made in heaven, I think some good fun could be had with this storyline.
2)
Jeremy/Stephanie/Max- a) I don't like the new Stephanie. The original one seemed to have such a head on her shoulders. This one is plain stupid. b) Jeremy grew on me the last time I saw him (when Nick was playing Daddy for those boys). c) Max has been quality for awhile. Let's develop all three characters as they work on their love lives.
Storylines that I like (and tune in to Days for):
1)
E.J./Sami/Lucas- I've always been a huge Sami fan, so it's great to see her being an adult and going through these issues. I am torn between Ejami and Slucas (?). It's fun watching them. The issue with the twins is great, and I want to see more. Let's just see more of that Sami spunk of yore.
2)
The DiMeras- Stefano and the fam is always fun. We need a new plot to get them mobilized again. Something ridiculously intricate that grabs our interest.
3)
Who shot E.J. Wells?- I think it's a great utilization of characters (excluding Lucas and Kate) that I wouldn't otherwise be interested in: Roman & Steve.
That's my peace on Days. Now if only SoapNet would stop airing it at ridiculous hours. 11 PM barely works because I want to get a good night's sleep before work. Airing the week's worth of Days beginning at 12 midnight BLOWS... who is staying up to see that?
