Dear John Boehner: Where are the jobs?

No actually. I really simply wish we would have something other than lunatics running this country. i have espoused my stance on many issues and either party meets half of them. So really i win as long as somebody fuckin leads this country somewhere.....

then call the repuiblican senators and ask them to stop obstructing the government.

how can you say you want the country to move as you suggest a government shutdown

I am not suggesting it... i am attempting to forecast. They will make such a stink that it will be Obama's albatross.

I dont see it holding. Just sayin.

Maybe i am wrong. it has happened once I think

well Mr Boner better have PLENTY of job creating things in that old bill or its going to be the first stink to hit the winds of the shifting american noses.

If they dont pass a budget then they will seal their image as the party of NONONO

I'd rather Obama and friends faced them down over a defense bill with DADT-death in it.

Then we can all see them be the party of "NoNoNo COOTIES!" and watch them carry McCain out on a stretcher.

The senate will stay in the dems hands, and the presidency will remain with Obama.

Does that bother you? :D

Substantially.

But if the Republicans got both those, it would bother me astronomically.

I tracked all the Republican candidates out here and they all talked about creating jobs...

... and didn't have one solitary idea for doing so except giving more freedom to the giant corporations that keep accomplishing the general impoverishment of the country and shipping jobs elsewhere.

If I'd gone to one of their campaign events, I would have loved to yell, "Who the hell are you and what have you done with the real Republicans?"

sadly it wont matter if they DO.

pelosi passed over 400 bills and they didnt make it through the senate.

Until that mess is cleared up, we are all screwed.

The dems wont giove the republicans anything at this point, because they have nothing to gain by doing so, and the republicans wont cooperate because they have nothing to lose.

they may have won the house but they are still political pariahs.

the dems should be smart - and at least appear willing to compromise

speaker pelosi's recent comments about the bi-partisan commission's concepts shows that she/they have no real intent on "compromise"

which is an absolutely necessary ingredient

There are places where there shouldn't be any compromise. One of them is the deficit, and despite the Republican morons saying that taxes don't affect the deficit, if the deficit is going to be tackled, then taxes should be going up. According to the IRS website, there are six actual tax brackets; the upper two shouldn't just go back to pre-Bush, but pre-Reagan and Korean War, respectively.

And for any rich Republicans who object, I say they're neither Christian nor patriots; those who love their country don't sit on their asses counting their own coin when the country is in need, and those who love their fellow man don't hoard the world's wealth when their fellows are hurting.

the point of the commission as i understand it is to attack both the tax (revenue) and entitlement (cost) side

seems to me that social security changes should NOT be off the table

seems to me that taxes for "millionaires" as in $1 million annual earners should be raised

dems don't want to do the former
repubs don't want to do the latter

each side will have to give in

period

compromise MUST be made - and individuals and groups who are not willing should be held accountable

Okay, the Democrats should start with WWII rates for the top bracket and compromise down to Korean War.
