Geoffrey-Hughes-Onslow-from-Keeping-Up-Appearances-has-died.jpg

Geoffrey Hughes who played Onslow in Keeping Up Appearances has died. Can't think what Hyacinth would have to say about that.

Geoffrey Hughes - Telegraph

Hyacinthe would arrange LOTS of flowers...the Vicar, and a candle light supper

I don't know Geoffrey outside of KUA, but they couldn't have cast anyone better to play Onslow. Some of his best scenes were with Patricia.

However, one of my favourite scenes was Onslow sitting up in bed. Daisy comes in dressed in a black negligee and carrying a cassette tape player. She sets the player on a dresser, pushes 'play', and then does her utmost to seduce Onslow to the loud strains of the stripper music Onslow looks on, mouth hanging open in pure befuddlement.

At the end, panting with anticipation and excitement and desperate hope, she says, "Well?"

Onslow's simple reply: "Any more bacon?"

Thanks for the laughs, Geoffrey. Job done.

I only know him from Keeping up appearances, may he rest in peace.
And he died so young.. WOW!

Rest in Peace Geoffrey Hughes.

Hyacinth and Richard, heading for a voyage on the QEII. She leads Richard wrong and they end up stuck in a field. Richard drives and Hyacinth gets behind the car to push. The back tire sends a spray of mud all over Hyacinth. She shouts, "I'll get you for that, Richard BUCKET!!" Then she looks to the side and mouths the word, "Bouquet!"

BENDERBOY's ladder reminds me of of the episode where Onslow and Richard are setting up the ladder to get into Rose's locked bedroom:

Daisy: "Mind the dish!"
Onslow: "Yeah! mind my dish!"

Geoffrey did something Hyacinth failed to do - meet Royalty:

Wonder if Sterling made it to the funeral, no doubt on Tarquin's arm, both wearing silk shi

I remember that one. Brilliant!

^ Thanks for that. I should have known, though. I suddenly recalled Patricia giving a Command Performance. D'uh on me, eh? ..|

I found these. Life Lessons from Onslow:

Long version

The ladder and bucket was in reference to him being a window cleaner on Coronation Street for many years.

I've never watched Corrie. Our CBC broadcasts it each Sunday morning and has done so for decades, but I don't watch it.

That made me very sad to read. If my Sheridan were here he'd be appalled.
