It reminds me of the HYSTERIA they put out prior to the MASSIVE bank bailouts, which I still think was a HEIST of our treasury...

I'm VERY concerned with massive spending cuts during a recession -- my Economics background taught me that during a recession, when NO ONE has money to spend, it is APPROPRIATE for the GOVERNMENT to spend...

I don't know on this issue...

I would say that if the ONLY WAY to raise the Debt ceiling was WITH MASSIVE SPENDING CUTS -- to maybe consider alternatives...

Reminds me of a senator from days gone by - Everett Mckinley Dirksen, R.-Ill. In downtown Chicago, there is a federal building with his name on it. The reason for this is that despite his conservative leanings, he "reached across the aisle" and voted for the Civil Rights Act of 1964. He put the country ahead of his personal beliefs. The clowns in the current Congress could learn a great deal from this great man!

We had a Special Election due to some "indiscretions" by our former Freshman Congressman - the backlash from the Lib Dem "rough housing" with his staffers was a Tea Party member.

Boehner is trying to save face in front of the Tea Party so he isn't going to budge, Obama is going to have to put a boot in his people's ass to get anything done while the Republicans keep their fingers crossed and hope it doesn't work. What they don't realize is either why they are fucked. One for not trying to compromise and get some of the things they want into the discussion and two, if the Dems do come up with a plan, they won't have anything to do with it. Obama still can't get it thru his head, he is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't so he may as well do what he thinks is best because he will get the blame or the credit either way it goes. Two nickels in a bucket, muthafucket!

I'm just guessing, but I think Obama's advisers were wary of Fox poised and ready to use the "angry Black man" image. The President sounded really pissed tonight. Perhaps he's "dropped the gloves?" One can only hope!

The question, despite his best efforts not to invoke it, is how long will he allow the Congressional farce go on before he takes William Jefferson Clinton's advice, and invokes the 14th amendment.

I'm guessing he gives it long enough for SS Recipients and the Military to go without paychecks, and to start contacting their elected representatives, AND their families.

The paychecks to PA ave - at both ends should stop, first - it won't matter to a lot of the elected officials, many are in the millionaire's club, but their staffers will start to feel the pinch.
