So I've been stalking this part of JUB for awhile looking for any opportunities to meet fellow Jubbers around this part of the country. Given, this isn't a traditionally open part of the country and I know many may not be open with the idea of meeting in public at a club or bar or anything, but I've been on JUB for over a year and have always wanted to meet some of the other members. So my question is this...is there any interest at all about having a JUB meet and greet for this part of the country? No clue where we could have it, the venue, etc etc...just thought I'd see if there was anybody out there wondering the same thing.

A great place to meet for a JUB meet would be in GA.

Not much goes on in GA though. It would be probably hard to find a place to meet. Oh wait I forgot that Gay Pride for Altanta, GA is in October :P
 
See I am being a little biased about where exactly a meeting like this could take place. Given, I live in Alabama...and since I was trying to include Mississippi in the mix, I figured a good central location for the three states would be somewhere in the Birmingham area (mostly because its in the middle of Alabama and hence middle of the three states). Given, Atlanta would be the supreme place not only because Gay Pride is next month, but there is a shit ton of things to do in that city.
 
I agree, Birmingham sounds like a great place, as it's more central not only for Mississippi, but Nashville and Memphis, New Orleans, and such. There are many large population centers which are closer to Birmingham than San Antonio (which appears to be the Texas place most likely to have meets).

On the other hand, Atlanta is closer to the Carolinas and such, so every place has advantages and disadvantages.

California meets are convenient for those who live in California, but they're very distant for anybody else.
 
I don't know much about Birmingham and Alabama and Mississippi. New Orleans would be kinda cool.

The one good thing about Atlanta though is there is TONS to do and a good number of gay businesses and places.

But if it's in Alabama than I can see baby wolves. Wolves are awesome.

If it really was close to GA "Not more than 4 hours away" than I might consider going. Even with NC it wasn't too far. If it was during the weekend I could maybe justify a trip. That would be kinda fun.

California is too far >.>

But fun.
 
Yea, Atlanta would be a good trip, I think it goes without saying, and I mean...we all know how the ATL throws down.

Like I said, I am being somewhat biased about a location, and if location wasnt an option, then I would have been to alot of JUB meets already (why does everything have to cost so much for such a broke college kid).

So I'm thinking I need some insight on some people in the Mississippi (or further if wanted) to chime in on something. I mean, there has to be some people on here from the area. Give your thoughts please! Cause the way I see it, Atlanta is probably going to win unless someone from the Magnolia state can give some love
 
Haha. You could say that. I really can't wait. TWO WEEKS AWAY!

Pride is going to kick so much ass this year I know it. By the way Matter of Splatter. The map of Pride for piedmont is up. It looks like it goes into botanical gardens and some other parts as well. They really expanded the area. It is not yet known where the vendors and volunteers will be placed yet. Everything is color coded though.

What will your costume be anyways? :O

I'm HOPING to make it back in time fro Pride...

Its a "crosses fingers" kind of thing for me though -- depends on whether or not I get a straight shot back...

JACKSON, MS here... it would be awesome to have a meet in jxn bc there's really nothing goin on in th gay community down here. we have one gay club 18+, Dick and Janes. and one gay bad 21+, JC's, but they're really loose on checkin IDs... not that i like to go though bc its just nasty old men. so there's the drag shows every weekend at the club and then there was Outoberfest which was gay music performance, film festival, etc. and of course i was out of the state that weekend. so, needless to say, Jxn could definitely use a good kick in the ass when it comes to the gay pride thing. so i think it would be awesome to have a get-together here
 
new orleans here, theres a crapload of things goin on. lazarus ball, where ill be performing on the mainstage at midnight, anne rices vampire ball, and every bar has something goin on. halloween is kinda like another mardi gras here.
 
Is this still gonna happen or only unlikely speculation?

I don't have much gas money anymore :(
 
It'd be pretty cool to have a deep south gathering. Maybe I could meet some normal gays instead of the weirdos in the Auburn/Montgomery area. :)
