Define "real man"

I think it means a chauvinistic view of how men are supposed to be based on primitive and outdated principles and archaic opinions.
 
intersting question, because...

the list i start to compose in my head are "unconventional" qualities, like...

bravery - but not merely the "rescuing from burning buildings" sledgehammer sort of bravery, which most of us would do given the opportunity, but the trickier sort of bravery that includes holding (and voicing!) an unpopular opinion, or, say, wearing a dress to the mall (and i mean "a man wearing a dress" not a "man dressed as a woman" - successful female impersonators do not defy standard conventions, imho)

taking responsibility for your own shit, turning the other cheek, learning how to let go...

in short, all sorts of things that women can do just as well, and sometimes better.

I would say that maybe i need one of you to come over and show me what a real man is like, but...

I'm afraid some of you will take that to mean i want to be beaten up.[-X

Everyone has their own definition of a real man.

To me, a real man is one who's not afraid to be himself; regardless of what others think. :luv:
 
In my group we use the term "Real Man" to describe straight men, I suppose it is a little sarcastic, and a little just a convineint way of distigising between the two. So I guess I define a real man as someone who has sex with women, but this is not ment in an way, to make you think gay men are less manly.
 
Someone who lives outside the boundaries of what societies definition of a man is, as pushover defined quite accurately
 
all men are different and hence "real" man has NO meaning.
 
The only thing that, for me, defines a (real) man is the presence of a penis.

IMO a real man is one who accepts responsibility for his actions, takes care of the ones he loves and those who love him. Stands up for what he believes in, is kind, polite and gives willingly.
