Dem Convention Thoughts

I am sure that someone from the ranks of the "true believers" will comment on how nice Ms. Obama's hair looked. [-X

from last night --

Biden gave a good speech - but I think he stretched the truth a lot.

Obama gave a poor speech - I had thoughts during it that it was kind of like his farewell speech. More empty promises. Recycled same old crap. Same solutions - hire more teachers, spend more tax and borrowed money.

Overall the convention was a collection of selective memories of the past 4 years and speakers asking people to vote for Obama because he's a nice guy, good husband, and father -- although good character features -- hardly ones we are looking for in a President.

Clinton's speech was interesting in that he made Obama's presidency look like a failure by comparing it to his own.

The repub's did fail to talk about the military -- not a good move -- the dem's highlighted the military. That's a big switch.

The image the DNC provided to me was a strange holy-roler type revival with lots of screaming and wild antics. Look at the speeches by Emmanuel Cleaver, Jennifer Granholm, and Deval Patrick for example. I'm glad it's over. I think the delegates were too -- they left the quickly last night.

Hahahahahahahah and THERE IT IS! Straight from the RNC's lips to Springer's ears, the word for word response released within MINUTES of the conclusion of Clinton's speech!

If you need a little more help, Jack, here is Ben "the gays are indoctrinating my children every time I turn on the TV" Shapiro's desperate (and failed) attempt to paint the Clinton speech as full of lies from breitbart. A Republican friend (foe?) of mine sent this to me and I had GREAT pleasure in knocking these off one by one (with the exception of #7, which is legit)

Have fun, Jack *|*

Meanwhile, at FactCheck.org: “Former President Bill Clinton’s stem-winding nomination speech was a fact-checker’s nightmare: lots of effort required to run down his many statistics and factual claims, producing little for us to write about. Republicans will find plenty of Clinton’s scorching opinions objectionable. But with few exceptions, we found his stats checked out.”

Springer plagiarized someone else's copyrighted work?

Desperate much, loki? And how many times did Romney even mention the troops? Oh yeah, zero.

And I love this school of thought that assumes the world BEGAN in 2008, and nothing is ever a continuation of anything that happened before that. Cause, yunno, nothing did...

I find it funny when I can detect entire phrases from right wing media spoken as personal opinions by members of JUB ^_^

Thanks for the link. I'll have to read it.

Just want to add my comment about the Democratic convention. I watched part of it on the PBS network. There were so many good speakers on it, but the two that I remember especially standing out were Michelle Obama and Bill Clinton. After the convention was over, I thought how can anyone vote for other than Barack Obama after hearing the points brought up in these speeches? I was excited and energized. Then I realized that if someone didn't watch it, as I didn't watch the Republican convention, then they would have no clue. This thought kind of dampened my excitement and scared me. Still, I think that the Democrats gained from this convention and I am glad.

On that note, I found it scathing that both sides avoided the 4-letter word: "Bush". Did talking about his overall failed presidency become taboo all of a sudden? I know the whole "blame Bush" mantra is a quagmire but some of Romney's proposed policies emulate Bush's failed ones which is something that should have been addressed.

What you're saying is the entire convention sucked. Why am I not surprised?

The things that moved me were first the Nun who spoke Wednesday not politician but spoke from the heart. The young man with two moms who came to defend same sex marriages. He would never be permitted to speak in Tampa. Gabby Gifford and the courage she showed on stage. The speakers were touch with the delegates. Most of all the diversity of the DNC with LGTB delegates shown as part of the party.

loved Obama's line about drawing down the troops in Afghanistan that didn't mention the fact that, at the end of his first term, we're still going to have more troops there than when he took office.

I wish we were not in Afghanistan, and that we had gotten out a long time ago. However, the reason there are more troops now than when Obama took office is that Bush so incompetently managed the Afghanistan War it presented Obama with the choice of either withdraw completely or try to make a success out of it. I wish we had just withdrawn (although of course we would not have killed Bin Laden). Unfortunately, Bush went off on the stupid war in Iraq, which led to it becoming an ally of Iran, and neglected Afghanistan, which then allowed it to spiral out of control.

The Vice President gave the most moving and call-to-arms speech I ever heard from a Veep...For once ALL the Dems decided to stick together, support the Party, defend their policies/legislation and go-to-bat for the Prez.......The President gave a great Speech considering he knew the unemployment numbers didnt crack the 100,000 mark....I'm going to listen to his speech again to see if I missed anything..

John Kerry & Biden didnt have any work done on their face...Clinton also looked younger than normal...They all had on makeup along with good-lighting...They were ready for Primetime thanks to the Conventions producer...

Yes, for the first time in a long time I saw real cohesion and unity among democrats, and the willingness to take credit for the good things they have done under this administration. The goods outweigh the bads... and it is important to highlight the successes in order to pull the rug from under the republican propaganda machine. And for once John Kerry gave a decent speech... now if he only did that in 2004... maybe we wouldn't be as f-k up as we are now.

I saw a bunch of people including the President and Vice-President who couldn't wait to get out of that place.

Not much excitement at the end.

That Debbie Wasserman Schultz is a fucking nightmare

She looks like shit - she whines like she's got a deep wound in her leg - and she lies

other than that, she's great

how does an incompetent like her get that gig - between her and reince preibus, it's peter principle x 10

she was caught yawning during Pres. Obama's speech ;) guess she'd heard most of that stuff 4 years ago right?

then she was caught lying about a conversation she had with a reporter claiming that the Israeli ambassador told her that the Republicans/Romney was "dangerous for Israel"

then her speech - OMG - so shrill

should be interesting to see if this was one very expensive private party - with high fives and hand jobs exchanged but very little minds changed

the vote - the no's - is not irrelevant

did i see a cardinal with a prayer at the end? didn't that seem odd - sorta hypocritical ?

didn't the idea of taking jerusalem out seem odd - or even odder to be put back in?

if it didn't matter why was it out then put back in?

and the speakers can say all they want that we're better off than 4 years ago - and that things are "better" or even "good"

but the american public does not agree

so where does that leave the people who think things are better? in the minority

not a good place to be before an election

and bill clinton was wonderful - he is marvelous - he doesn't care for BO and everyone knows that - so they know it was politics

great convention on TV - great speakers - very diverse - everything looked and sounded great

i've had lots of dates with guys who looked and sounded great

LOL
