Dem Senators release message to LGBT youth

^^^Thanks, BP. ..|

The fact that this message was launched prior to the Independence Day weekend is no coincidence: Independence from bullies, hate, prejudice, bigotry and of course, the Religious Reich!

Happy Fourth of July everybody! pride:

You're welcome!

Democrats tell LGBT youth that it will get getter and give them hope. ..|

Republicans say you're going to Hell and go to Bachmann's clinic and he transform you from Sodomite to heterosexual. :grrr:

Where are the Republicans in this video? Don't they think it will get better? How on God's green earth can any gay man be a Republican?

I'm glad I'm on the right side of history! :=D:

I have read about many instances where Republicans have voted against anti-bullying bills.

What a terrific video! I've often felt put off by people who haven't been through my experience telling me everything will be all right, but this video doesn't do that. These people are saying that the world is changing and that they are doing what they can to make it better. That seems very reassuring. It also challenges not to let the opponents win, that is, not to give up.

Excellent video: A .

i just don't get it. ok, it's one thing to disagree with homosexuality and religion, it's another thing to disagree with marriage being anything other than a religious institution.

but, when republican senators sit there and come out against us and say that it isn't about discrimination, and that it isn't about hate, well, where's the proof of that? Republican leaders won't even come out and support a campaign that helps lgbt youth try and find SOME positive message in their worlds that might prevent them from killing themselves.

like... it's fucking disgusting imo. fine, disagree with what we are all you want, but when you aren't even willing to give a second of your time to try and help kids that are commiting suicide, that's when i start to get really pissed off. they're a bunch of cowards imo. if you can't even lend your voice to the it get's better campaign, then you really are all about hatred.

Could it be that they can't lend their voices because they aren't doing anything to make it better?

It really is something to be proud of, a societal evolution.

Of course that makes the republicans either dinoaurs or cromagnon men.

Evolve or die.

-I'm so proud to call Al Franken my senator!!!

-Harvey Milk would be proud Diane!

-Gillibrand is all shades of awesome I swear

Excellent message. It's nice to see that so many members of congress participated in this program. In fact, it's nice to see that such programs exist now for LGBT youth. I wish they had when I was of that sensitive age. I believe this country is well on the right track. Make no mistake, there's still a long way to go before we reach complete equality and acceptance, but seeing messages like this (plus similar commercials on TV and online) is quite reassuring.

That's very troubling. It's incredible how far some elected officials will go to appease their supporters with the most extreme and hurtful ideologies -- just so they can be reelected. They apparently have no spine. Worse, they seem to not have any ethical compass.

On a similar note, New York State is very fortunate to have Chuck Schumer as a senator. He really does seem to work for the people and has done so much on so many issues, gay rights being just one of them. On top of that, when constituents contact his office with issues, his staff actually follows through to resolve the problem or address it as best as it can. May he continue to represent New York for a long time.

This video is proof, that despite the flaws of the Democrat party, they are still champions for social justice and treating all of us, as equal members of society. The Republican Party is not our friend and not our ally. They do not represent fairness and equality under the law. It will not be a Republican president or a Red Congress that will bring us equality under the law, it will be a Democratic president and Congress.

I know these statements ruffles some feathers, but let me remind the minority here that cling to the elephant: Where is the Republican Senate video telling young gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender youth that it's okay to be who they are, and that it will get better?

Exactly.

It goes to show what party stands up for the LGTB community.

I agree completely.

This is very inspirational.

It obviously doesn't and will not exist because Republicans view LGBT as abominations that will burn in hell.
