Democratic Debate Charleston SC - January 17th [MERGED]

Bernie is close in two early primaries--the rest is a blow out for Hillary---Nationwide yesterday was something like 68% for Hillary the rest for Bernie. So while I love Bernie this could all just be talk to make this all more exciting than what it is.

I would vote for him in a general election ...no doubt about it...but never in the primary..because I don't think he can win. The strength of the Democrats is not white left liberals...and demonizing Hillary will NOT do them any favors getting the rank and file Dems to the Voting Booth....

I don't understand where "the strength of democrats is white left liberals" came from.

I don't understand where "the strength of democrats is NOT white left liberals" came from.

First off..you completely misquoted me by leaving out the important word "NOT"....so I inserted it for you.....

...and though I didn't mention it earlier..I am specifically referring to what I have witnessed locally in the very liberal San Francisco Bay Area and Silicon Valley. We have the 1% Liberals...the "progressives"....the (BARF) "hipsters" who are often young...and the worst offenders....

...and I live in one of the most misogynist places in the entire United States. Mississippi and Alabama both have a better wage gap between men and women than Silicon Valley....we may be the worst in the entire nation..so much for "Liberals"..eh? The hipsters here..the ones who are very loud screaming about Hillary and supporting Bernie...fucking misogynist in tone to the hilt. "TONE" is the key here...and they don't get it. I am not even a Democrat but I know a lot of them...and there is a lot of eye rolling now when we are forced to listen to one of the Hillary haters tout Bernie..they are already tiresome....

I know SIX women personally in my limited circle of friends and acquaintances that left the Democrats when they pulled this last time in 2008 with Obama. I think it was one of the reporters on MSNBC who did a commentary on how manipulative it was for Hillary to "pimp" her daughter at a campaign event....UH...WTF??? A man brings his family and everyone admires him but a woman bringing her daughter is "pimping"?????..and did they think intelligent women just are going to pretend they don't notice?

http://www.nydailynews.com/news/pol...s-msnbc-chelsea-pimp-comment-article-1.307102

Of course...none of them recognize their misogyny.....especially the selected well educated white liberal who thinks his shit doesn't stink..we are loaded with them around here....and they are doing again in 2016 what they did in 2008....and women recognize the code..just like black people understand when you are racist..or gay people understand when you are homophobic..despite pleas to the contrary from the offender.......

...and what is it gonna cost THIS time? ..

I didn't misquote you because I was saying it in a manner as if you were responding to me saying it. It seems like you are reflecting the Bernie supporters you know with ones not like that at all.

Those people sound terrible but they don't represent all Bernie supporters and it seems you are perpetuating that in this thread.

I struggle all the time trying to figure out how to shorten my string of words and get my point across...my problem..I know....so I assume that the reader knows I am not referring to "all" of anything. At one point...I would edit myself and spell out "some..not all" to qualify everything I was saying but it was just too much after awhile and I just went back to assuming the reader already gets it. If not...my apologies. I am very good communicating verbally in person ...but to make myself clear in writing...a whole other world for me....

The thing I have noticed...it is spreading now across the internet..the thing I was talking about that happens in Silicon Valley.....I see it every day now. I visit a lot of sites and I see the tone emerging once again.

I just have never really liked Hillary and still don't. To me she is a faux democrat and more-so conservative. She is wishy washy and just plays her party like every other Politician. That is something I am tired of seeing and Bernie is not that.

Agreed.

She opposed gay marriage until 2014, which is remarkable bigotry. Now, she presents herself as our best friend.

She is the darling of Wall Street bankers, although she presents herself (now) as a reformer.

She is too right-wing. She would be a Republican, if they allowed women into that party.

.

Well...she definitely lies about some things and intentionally misleads on others....but so did a lot of the best Presidents we have ever had....including Mr Obama.

I think it was 2013 that she "evolved"...and by evolved..I mean being politically OK to "evolve"...

I love how they all chose the word "evolve"..which technically isn't a lie..it just isn't the truth. I think a lot more of them privately supported gay marriage but thought it would hurt them politically if they publicly supported it....

This link shows the "evolution" timeline....

Hillary is right wing kerry style bush lite. Hillary plays that centrist card too much, why Americans do not trust her. Democrats have to stand for SOMETHING and stop selling out core liberal values.

59% not 68. However, Bernie will get a bump nationally if he wins either of the first two states as that always happens.

If he's not way ahead in Iowa, he's not going to win outside New England.

I'm not going to rehash Hillary, we're all familiar with her and we are all going to have to vote for her most likely, I'll save my outrage for the system that forces us to go along.

Your support for Bernie appears to have robbed you of objectivity. Hillary is in NO way a right winger.

She would basically be Obama's 3rd term. They are both center-left.

And the Rs have women, one of them just gave the response to the SOTU address. Their views have very little in common with Hillary's.

I like Bernie, but we are still MUCH better off with Hillary than any R.

He is likely going to lose Iowa, win NH and then lose most of the rest of the states, possibly picking up a couple more. I could be wrong, but he doesn't appear to have any clear way to expand his support base, unlike Obama.

Well...she definitely lies about some things and intentionally misleads on others....but so did a lot of the best Presidents we have ever had....including Mr Obama.

She's a typical politician, basically.

But, I have noticed a difference between the way Republicans and Democrats politic. Democrats tend to get in trouble because of their lying. Republicans tend to get in trouble for not lying (e.g. . global warming, evolution, gay rights, etc.). Trump and Cruz do little except lie, and their party loves them for it.

I think it was 2013 that she "evolved"...and by evolved..I mean being politically OK to "evolve"...

She claims it was June 2014. http://www.ontheissues.org/Hillary_Clinton.htm

Which is a rather late "evolution," IMHO.

Agreed.

But it really irks me that politicians would pretend to hate a minority just because that's the popular thing to do. I will never forgive Obama and Clinton for their opposition to gay marriage. Leaders are supposed to lead.

I love how they divide the timeline into "Prehistory," "Pre-Biden," and "Post-Biden."

We really owe a huge debt of gratitude to the vice president.

I agree that a Hillary administration would be a 3rd term of the Obama administration.

In Britain, The Telegraph regards Obama as slightly to the right of David Cameron. Cameron is, of course, a typical European conservative. Which puts Obama, in their view, slightly to the right of center-right. Which is where I would also put Hillary. And conservative columnist David Brooks has argued that Obama is actually "too conservative."

Remember, both Obama and Clinton opposed gay marriage (in Clinton's case, until 2014!). Obama gave us the Republican program for healthcare. He has been the biggest deporter of illegal immigrants in history. He has continued the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy. Etc. etc.

And the Rs have women, one of them just gave the response to the SOTU address. Their views have very little in common with Hillary's.

The women in the Republican Party are tokens.

None of them could ever seriously occupy a high position in the party. Even if she was a reasonable candidate, Carly Fiorina would not be able to get much farther in her candidacy for the presidency than she has.

Palin's selection for the Vice Presidency was a stunt. She was not chosen for her qualifications or leadership within the party.

I like Bernie, but we are still MUCH better off with Hillary than any R.

Amen, brother.

Agree with all of that.

Sanders will probably lose Iowa, win New Hampshire, and lose just about everything else. Much as I like him, he doesn't stand a chance.

Obama did not design obamacare;it was the work of the dems in Congresd. He did not continue the Bush tax cuts; they ex-ired and Congress would not give Obams an increase. His deportation numbersare false; hechanged thedefinition of deport to include those stopped at the border. He is far left but restrained by the Gop Congress.

Well it appears that just about everybody is just so certain of who's gonna win what ......

Yech

One of us would have you believe that our current President is a conservative

That Hillary is a conservative

then quotes a British source as "proof"

scary time on JUB

back to the topic

Hillary spent the entire debate wrapping herself around President Obama - first time for everything i guess

Oh that's right the debate was in SC where blacks are ...... EVERYTHING voting wise

Blacks are the majority of the vote in many Democratic primaries in the South and a huge segment of the electorate in others. They were perhaps the decisive factor in Obama defeating Clinton, and Sanders likely can't win the primary if he takes huge losses among blacks.

gotta give her her due ........ she "read the room"

http://www.nbcnews.com/politics/201...t-big-test-sanders-among-black-voters-n497451

And Bernie let Hillary off the hook by not mentioning her vote on going to war in Iraq

It's an uphill battle as the Dem establishment has done everything in its power to give Hillary her seat on the throne

Obama did not design obamacare;it was the work of the dems in Congresd.

Actually, it was the Heritage Foundation.

http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/...bamacare_is_Free_Market_Conservatives___.html

He did not continue the Bush tax cuts; they ex-ired

They were continued in the Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization, and Job Creation Act of 2010. Then, they were made permanent in 2012 for people making less than $400,000 per year.

His deportation numbersare false; hechanged thedefinition of deport to include those stopped at the border.

Not true.

He is far left but restrained by the Gop Congress.

I wouldn't expect you to agree with the rest of the world on anything, Ben.
