Rene Descartes was drinking heavily in a bar late one night. The barman wanting to wend his weary way home suggests: "One last one for the road maybe Rene?" to which Descartes replies: "I think not...."

A certain doctor went into a certain bar each day for a specialty of the house: an almond daiquiri. He was so regular in this habit that Richard (the bartender) prided himself on having it ready, on the bar in a frosted glass, right when the doctor walked in.

One day as the doctor was due to arrive, Richard noticed to his horror that he was out of almonds. He quickly substituted hickory nuts and got the glass down on the bar just in time.

The doctor came in knowing nothing, sat down, and tasted the drink. Then he made an odd face and asked "Is this an almond daiquiri, Dick?"

The bartender smiled sheepishly and replied "No, it's a hickory daiquiri, Doc."
