apparently, there are four guys that came forward saying that elmo touched them when they were underaged. :( don't know the nature of what happened but anybody here still has love for elmo though?

me personally, i'm proud to say that i didn't buy that elmo hat or any elmo related clothing. i'm cringing at the thought of elmo being a pedo.

He isn't real.

if he wasn't real then, he's real now.

just seeing elmo now scares the shit out of. i would not want to be in a room alone with him then again, he might leave me alone since i don't look like a boy. wouldn't want to be around that fucking dirty ass fiddle.

I thought his accuser recanted his accusation. I apparently have missed something.

^ He did, but another guy stepped forward (that's when Kevin resigned) and a few others have stepped forward since then.

The accusations are from being substantiated at the moment...

There is a strong chance that the accuser just want his 15 minutes of fame, the hell with the consequences...

...No adults like kid stuff.

I hadn't heard of this puppet until last week.

But I just looked up Wiki and it says that this Elmo character suffered from a mental condition and used a device to illustrate the feeling of "being outside one's body and watching things happen", a psychological disconnect resulting from dissonance either from trauma such as childhood physical or sexual abuse, or from psychotic episodes of actions that can't be reconciled with the individual's own self-image.

And last week I mentioned that I knew two 'drag-queen' types who had separate personas and with the same condition who used thus same device when talking about their separate selves.

I've always found Elmo terrifically annoying. He's so bloody shrill.

I always thought he lacked the conceptual intelligence of the other muppets in Sesame Street. I even thought that he was only ever invented after Jim Henson died, but it turned out not to be true.

(We have our own version of Sesame Street here in The Netherlands that has Dutch actors in their own Sesame Street set, but has the original mini movies dubbed in Dutch. Grown up with Sesame Street, I never even saw Elmo until the second half of the nineties).

Most drag queens refer to their alter egos in the third person when not performing
I wouldn't class that as anything but normal

Ive always liked Elmo. His popularity came after my Sesame Street watching days but when I was able to catch the show, I still enjoyed the character. I saw his documentary last year and was moved to tears. I definately fell in love with the man behind Elmo. I didn't believe the first accuser at all, but now that this second guy has stepped forward I dont know what to believe.

I too cringe at the fact that Elmo could be a creep :(

If the accusation is true, that first guy got completely screwed with that $125,000 settlement.

I still have love for Elmo - and more importantly, the puppeteer. The first accuser is a very shady character who seems to have a reputation as a bit of a schemer and the second one seems not much better. I haven't heard about the subsequent accusers so I can't comment on them, but the more I read about the first two the more my bullshit detectors go into meltdown.

I do feel however, that Kevin did himself no favours by taking the 'settlement' route. A quick settlement can make people more suspicious plus it tends to bring out the gold-diggers looking for a quick buck - just look at what it did to Michael Jackson.
