Detective Comics wins GLAAD Media Award

Batwoman's starring turn in DC's Detective Comics was honored Saturday night as outstanding comic book at the 21st annual GLAAD Media Awards in New York City.


Presented by the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, the awards recognize media for their representations of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people and issues.

The two persons who created it happen to be straight males and they get honoured for drawing every straight guy's sexual fantasy -> steaming hot lesbian sex

Indeed it is. This title has been fantastic, and the character has really caught on, which is not easy for any new character to do these days.

Congrats to the winners who are well-deserving of the award.

Just a little tidbit from my bible (the DC Comics Encyclopedia: Updated and Expanded).

"In the years following the Infinite Crisis, Batwoman filled the void while Gotham City went without its primary protector. Batwoman, or Kathrine "Kate" Kane, came from the same wealthy background as Bruce Wayne, with the Kane family rumored to own everything in Gotham that the Waynes did not. The circumstances that drove her to become a vigilante are still unknown, but Batwoman's martial arts skills are augmented by weapons and gadgets purchased with the Kane fortune."

Batman had nothing to do with her; but in one adventure Nightwing gave Batwoman a Batarang, welcoming her the the Bat-Family.
Batwoman is in no way associated with Batgirl.

I'm a bit embarrassed to say that I'm a huge Batman fan and I never even attempted to give Batwoman a chance.

Just not interested in reading a comic with a lesbian lead character. Flame away.
