Hey,
Not sure if this is in the right place but I figured this might work. If not mods feel free to move it. I just thought I would try and get as many opinions as possible.

Finally Heres whats going on. My company I have interning with through school has kind of offered me a job when I graduate after this fall semester. The job would be awesome and I am sure that I would enjoy it and there is so much room for furthering myself in this position. I would love to say yes right now. But, here is my problem with it, I would have to move to Detroit. I have never really been to Michigan, and never really wanted to go. Seeing as I have never been I was wondering if anyone had any experience with Detroit and could lend some insight as to living there.

What sucks I i just moved states last year and am just now starting to get out and make friends after. I am a pretty shy guy and only just recently came out (3 months ago). But I have been getting out going to some clubs and hanging out. (Side note just Got back from D.C. for my birthday, just turned 22,and went to some clubs there and I had a blast so much fun). Since I am so shy and I would know no one I am not sure how long it would really take for me to get to know people there.

So I guess if anybody has any info on living in Detroit in general and living in Detroit as a gay male.

Thanks

Ha,
I just realized that was my first post. I have been snooping around here awhile I guess I just never realized I hadnt posted anything.

Within the city, Downtown, Midtown, and Corktown are probably your best bet. All three of these areas are fairly vibrant and have growing young professional populations (specifically the former two). Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilberts is spearheading initiatives to bring greater development to these areas as well

I know nothing of Detroit, but I'd like to welcome you to the forums. If you don't get much response here we could try moving this to Introductions so pm me with a request anytime.

With the job market being what it is I guess I'd weigh my employment options where you are now located before turning this down. Depending on how much time they are giving you to decide a trip to Detroit with a friend or relative might be in order to check it out.

Thanks Seasoned and Pistonsfan. Yeah I mean I dont know that I could do much better it really would be a great job and I think it fits me pretty well. I really dont feel like I could turn it down if I wanted to. So with school and work I will have to work at it but I do think it would be a great idea to try and get up to Detroit to see what its like.
