It’s funny how fast life can change, isn’t it? I remember a few years ago, I adamantly refused to have anything to do with anti-anxiety medication. Now, I’ve been switched from Zoloft to Celexa; these are two separate anti-anxiety (anti-depression) medications. The Zoloft was causing me to have depressive and suicidal thoughts, therefore my primary care doctor elected to take me off of the medication and switched me to Celexa instead. I feel it’s too soon to tell for sure how the new medication is affecting me. Overall I feel better with where things are, but that’s for other reasons as well in addition to the medication.
My job is still stressful as can be; I don’t feel as though that will ever change, honestly. There are many, many deadlines at this time of the year, and that will likely continue throughout the summer. Sadly, I feel that I am going to have to give up my weeks’ worth of time that I normally spend with my family at their cabin this year because there is just too much going on right now. We had a Senior Assistant Manager meeting today and discussed several deadlines coming up not only in the next several days, but also in the next several months. Several state-mandated deadlines need to be met. Now, I’m not behind on my work by any means, but things come at you quickly. Deadlines change in a moments’ notice, it seems!
There are always good things that come with the bad as well. I received a message today from one of the partners of the company I work for asking if I was interested in doing Manager-level work for them. Now, what some of you may not know is that I was once a Finance Manager for my current company, but the anxieties and fears of the position got to me, and I asked to be demoted to an Assistant Manager level. When I was asked today to be a Manager (now called Financial Manager), I wasn’t going to hesitate at that opportunity – not again. Yes, there will be a huge learning curve, and there is A LOT to understand still, but that’s part of the job, too! I’ve been attending Managers meetings for the last two years so I feel I have gained a lot of knowledge there. I feel this will be a good opportunity overall for me. This change may not happen for a few months, though, according to this partner. I’ll just have to wait and see how that all plays out. Honestly, if it takes a few months, that would be okay with me – more time to prepare and gather more information!
