Dexter [MERGED]

Re: Dexter Season 5

I keep meaning to by the DVD set so I could watch it. I heard about it, do not have cable t.v., have seen maybe 2 1/2 episodes of the entire series. I was at a friends last nite, saw the season premier. It was awsome! THough I think I might get tired of him never showing any emotions. I understand/have heard about his past, but I think the (the actor) over does the "lack of human emotions" bit a little too much. I am going to have to get down to the used video store here and pick up first season sometime, and start from there......

If you watch the entire series that will make sense to you. He does have emotions, they are just really fucked up lol.

Anyway I thought the premiere was really good. Interested to see where this season goes now that Dexter is a bit more unhinged than we've seen in the previous few seasons.

Re: Dexter Season 5

I still think killing Rita off was a bad idea. Maybe theyre just gonna have the grandparents take them. The idea of the Dexter being a single dad to 2 kids with murdered parents seems dumb.

I figured Quinn and Deb getting together was inevitable. Personally I thought it would have happened sooner. Now it just seems weird. If that was really Quinn's ass and not a butt double it was not as good as I expected. lol

It's funny how LaGuerta has become my favorite character starting last season. I like how much her character has grown.

Oh man.

You have to watch from the beginning. Last season was spectacular. John Lithgow gave the performance of his career as Arthur Mitchell/Trinity.

Re: Dexter Season 5

The main thing I enjoyed was Quinn's bare ass! They finally figured out that they do in fact have a gay audience that would like to see these men naked. ;)

Re: Dexter Season 5

Good episode. I am just fearful on how the rest of the season is going to proceed. It almost seems like a repeat of the Doakes storyline with Quinn investigating Dexter. I didn't love that season, so I hope that they don't really spend too long on this.

Does anyone know what the storyline of the season is?

Re: Dexter Season 5

With last week's episode, it's starting on their Season 5 storyline. It has the makings of a good season.

It's starting now!

Re: Dexter Season 5

Wow. I am loving this season so far with Julia Stiles. Should be interesting to see how this progresses.

Re: Dexter Season 5

Last Sunday's episode was great. It gets better and better.

Re: Dexter Season 5

Would it kill Dexter to be shirtless a bit more? Keep it in character, have him changing out of bloody clothes. :D

I love the book series, and I love the show. This season has been great and I am glad they involved Julia Stiles, I am really digging her character and the arc they have going about her.

My friends do not like the nanny, but I am dumbfounded by their comments, what is their NOT to love about the nanny?

Re: Dexter Season 5

For a minor character, Harrison's Nanny plays a big part in the show. I think later in the season something is going to happen to her.

Re: Dexter Season 5

I know, the nanny is so amazing! I really don't want anything to happen to her or Julia Stiles. My friend and I were shocked how Dexter treated her Saint figurine. We're not spiritual people at all, but we thought it was pretty rude of him to insult her belief by belittling the Saint figurine.

However, our love returned full force when Dexter decided to "play along" and give the figurine a second chance. :P

Re: Dexter Season 5

I've come close to giving up on this show the last couple seasons, but I just watched all 8 of this one so far onDemand this weekend, and I really think it's made many improvements.

One of my main complaints before had to do with Rita and her children for a number of reasons. Problem solved!
Another was Deb. I normally find her very annoying, but I feel the character and the performance have matured greatly over the past couple seasons. Her and Masuka are great as the show's reliable sources of humor.
Less and less dad/conscience is always nice.
But mostly, I really enjoy the Julia Stiles character and how Dexter's relationship with her develops. Previous partners-in-crime story-lines were always a bit ridiculous, and there was always distrust. Here you can really see how these two characters need each other, and it's completely believable. Finally, a recurrent character developing with REAL motives who isn't just a cop, a crazy person, or a vigilante. It's less macabre, but far more compelling.

Re: Dexter Season 5

Last Sunday's Episode "Teenage Wasteland" was great. Dexter gets deeper and deeper and you wonder how he's going to get out of this now.

I just about shit when Jordan Chase phoned Dexter and called Lumen by name.

What's Quinn going to do with the photos Liddy (private detective) gave him? I suspect Liddy will get Dexter's treatment. They're re-opening the barrel girls case so that will get deeper too. How will they get this figured out with only 3 episodes remaining?

I wait for Sunday night to come. It's the best show in television.

Re: Dexter Season 5

Now I haven't watched it from season 1 just yet, but I have watched this season from the beginning and I am hooked! And I agree with CowboyBob, I was shocked when Chase addressed Lumen by name. Sunday needs to hurry and roll around.

Maybe by then I would have gotten at least done with Season 1.

Yeah. He was absolutely amazing.

I am loving this season so far.

Re: Dexter Season 5

There was a huge flaw in tonight's episode that really ruined it for me.

Private Detective Liddy was rummaging through Quinn's desk and no one asked him who he was and what he's doing. Liddy mentioned to Dexter about his Dad and mentioned his sister, but how does the general public have access to a cop's desk or even the office without credentials? All the employees of Miami Metro wear a lanyard or have identification in view.

He then forged Quinn's signature and requested surveillance equipment and the person at the procurement desk should have phoned Quinn to check because Liddy didn't have visible credentials. That's how it's done in real life.

Other than that, it was Lumen's first kill. Chase is revealing himself to be a real fucked up monster. Loved the DNA cheek swab scene.
