But I also agree with this. Doesn't listing a size preference also say something about the person posting it? It is human nature for each person to be attracted to different features but usually people see it as shallow to put too much importance on that, don't they?

Depends on what someone considers too much importance. Listing size preference does indeed say something - it says 'size preference' - what others read into it is their own issue and generally has nothing to do with the poster. Sex is a very physical act involving delicate parts. Size matters for physical comfort. I think shallow would be listing a plethora of (usually just) physical qualities you want in a person while refusing to take someone else's humanity into account and expecting them to jump on board. Ime, this usually occurs when the ad/post says what they're looking for while simultaneously insulting and degrading the people they don't want.

Eh, I think it all depends on how you go about it. There's a difference between "I prefer larger dicks/smaller dicks for some acts" and "I'm looking for a big dick and I don't care who's attached to it - it's all about ME".*

*The latter is also part of a couple of particular kinks/fetishes I've seen in my travels, so to speak, which is fine so long as everyone is aware fetish isn't reality even when it occurs in 'real life'. It's like no ones' ever seen a play before.

And can I just say, pics are usually deceiving on size and most men have no idea how to actually measure their dick. What's hilarious about these profiles mentioned is actually thinking a 9+ penis is common enough to easily find on some random hookup site.

I've personally never used them but I have looked at them to get a really good laugh.

I've actually found several 8+ on hookup sites and I don't generally specify size preference.

I'm just wondering why it is more acceptable to say that you only want to be with guys who have 9"+ of dick and much less acceptable to say that you are looking to date a guy with 5" or less.

Do many people even have 9"? It sounds like what recruitment agencies refer to as the "purple squirrel".

I've never understood why some gay men have a preference for penis size. I've learned from experience that size is not always an indicator of how pleasurable the sex will be. Some of the best hook ups I've had have been with smaller guys and I've met bigger guys who didn't really know what to do with it. As long as it functions normally, I don't care.

If you want the truth, I have encountered enough "pushy bottoms" through hookup sites that talk a big game but can't handle a big ole dick. Hell, you get two fingers up their ass and they yelp saying "STOP!". If you can "fit it in", it isn't an issue.

I've dealt with this issue quite a bit lately. They say they love really big dicks (I'm only 7uc, but kinda thick), and they have the most difficult time with just one finger--and it's not because my finger nail is hurting them which is a real issue that too many tops don't seem to think about. I have NEVER encountered the former. Ever.

It's always been, on every site I've ever been on, "8 inches or better", "Need to have a big dick", "If you're lower than _ we can't talk", etc etc etc.

Which is why to this day I've never measured my dick, and each time someone with a profile stating they need a number hits me up(or has, as I'm not on any hookup sites currently), I laugh to myself and tell them this is not the dick they're looking for as there is no number attached to it. I do know that people don't know how to measure though, and in my experience black guys - thanks myths! - add an inch or so online. I know this because one of my exes is WELL endowed(or as we say down here, "blessed") and we kept meeting guys with 9 and 10 inches online that were at least 2 inches smaller than him...

We don't need to work on sex education(well we do, but...), we need to work on people not getting so wrapped up in the size of their dicks. Or other peoples' dicks.
