Did anyone see Hardball tonight?

But this disrespect and dismissiveness, rolled often in ridicule, is the way Obama Democrats have been all along. And that puts a lie to the Hope and Change meme. There's no hope in that kind of destructiveness within a society.
From where I stand (France ! :D ), I have to agree with you. I see that unfortunately, Democrats are ridiculing Republicans the same way Republicans ridiculed Democrats between 2000 and 2008.

So much for Obama the "uniter" of your nation. You elected someone who is no better than our Sarkozy. In fact, as time goes on I see growing similarities between the two of them. The odd thing is they actually hate each other's guts.

I had a friend once tell me that "sometimes the Uncle Tom/s of the gay community needs to be like the drunken, alcoholic, uncle no one talks to at family gatherings" when referring to sell out, closeted, Republican enablers. I think the comparison might work in more than a few instances.

Now THAT is truly offensive. So now, because there are gay men and women that aren't liberals, they're uncle toms?

That is a disgusting point of view and you should be absolutely ashamed of yourself for thinking that it might be valid.

That video was utterly painful to watch. What a huge difference in tone between FOX and MSNBC in regards to her interviews on each one.

(Edit) Wow. Just hit 5,000 posts!

We saw how destructive it was for Republicans and now Democrats, who have such an incredible opportunity with our majorities in Congress and a Dem in the WH, squander it all just for the chance to poke someone in the eye and laugh about it with their comrades.

So much for Obama the "uniter" of your nation.

Like Bush, Obama unites people who have an Us versus Them mentality, not a builder mentality. You can see it all over the place, and certainly right here on this forum. They gather in alliance to ridicule rather than building concensus, they divide to destroy rather than uniting to build. As Bush put it, you're either with us or against us; Obama supporters are the same way.

You elected someone who is no better than our Sarkozy. In fact, as time goes on I see growing similarities between the two of them. The odd thing is they actually hate each other's guts.

Yes they're similar (they have similar growing-up experiences of father abandonment and feeling set apart from their peers, which can be two important defining elements) but Sarkozy is a few years older than Obama and comfortably of his generation, while Obama strives to be of a generation younger than his own. From what I've observed, a generational divide of that nature can create animosity.

^^Shit only stinks when it comes out of the other guy's asshole.
Good news Independents are moving away from Obama. Hpefully 2010 will bring a return to Republican leadership in the congress and a check to Obama's power. I don't know if this bill is really Obama's fault??? Seems to be more the moronic 'big gov't is the answer' Democrats.

Who's in control? Who's in power? Who's the leader?

Faulting "Democrats" is a cop-out. Isn't someone leading this? Who is that? And if nobody's leading, whose fault is that?

True but he didn't actually write the bill, hell, he doesn't even know it won't raise the defecit. I think he really believes it.

Obama is a man with a lot of experience at believing what isn't true and being able to seduce others into believing it. But he's hitting a bad bump with health care, I think, because of seniors. Nobody would pay any attention to the Republican hoo-ha if seniors, the AARP, were fiercely backing ObamaCare. But unlike gays who don't have the balls to insist Obama keep his promises, seniors are not doormats. They want Medicare benefits protected and they want Medicare to have the authority to negotiate drug prices, which Democrats have been trying to get for years, and generics available sooner. But there are indications that Obama is --as is his way-- planning to toss seniors under the bus by diminishing Medicare benefits and reports have leaked that he's making backroom deals with big pharma. Seniors are not having it. And I say good for them. Leave it to the generation that fought for civil rights and feminism and gay liberation to not be blinded by his seduction and stand up to the deceitful bully in the White House.

It's not "Democrats" or anybody in Congress who's been making deals with big Pharma, selling out seniors (and everybody who buys prescription drugs), it's Barack Obama and it's right in character for him.

In many ways he is manipulated by his party like Bush was.

I don't think Bush was manipulated by his party, I think he was manipulated by a few men and then they, using Bush, manipulated the Republican Party. And as awful as the GOP was before them, I think the Rove/Bush/Cheney gang seduced and then blindsided the Republican party into ruin.

Similarly, I think Obama and his crowd has manipulated the Democratic Party rather than the other way around. Democrats today are not what we were just a few years ago; if we were, Gitmo would be closed, and Wall St wouldn't have been bailed out without facing strict new regulation, and health care reform would already be a done deal and it would not be made from deals cut with big Pharma, and gays would be serving openly in the military. Obama is not being manipulated by the Democratic Party; ObamaCo has changed the Democratic Party. The problem is Obama doesn't have any principled positions, so even though he's definitely "the boss," the one Democrats are taking cues from, the "leader," the only hard stands he takes are things like insisting he be able to use his Blackberry. So health care reform is a mess because nobody with a principled position about health care reform is leading this; instead it's Obama who's primary concern is always Obama.

He is the leader, of the executive, not legislating. This being 'Obama's plan' is a result of the modern president acting like some kind of king. Right? What do you think?

I think it's worse than acting like some kind of king. I think it's personality driven, the way Peron was.
