Jesus is a question of faith. Whether he really existed or really was the son of God is actually very irrelevant to me. You either believe his message and live by it or you don't. His teachings are good enough not to depend on if he was the son of God or not. He certainly wasn't an ordinary man. If he's fictional he was invented by an equally extraordinary man. That's good enough for me.

As to the athiest thing, I do believe there are fundamentalist athiest, or to put it better, hardcore athiest that are JUST as bad as Christianity.

I have always seen athiest and christians as the same people. Both have their crazy die hard people who preach their beliefs to anyone who listens and shuns those that don't believe. Then there are the simple folk who have their beliefs but wouldn't attack anyone on them because it really isnt nice in either beliefs, and then those who are either one. I have seen some athiests who will debate you to the bitter end about the evils of Christianity and why it should be abolished and blah blah blah. And in the end, I always say your just as bad as the "crazzy christians". You sit there and try to change my mind on my beliefs and simply don't except when I don't see it your way. Christian crazies are exactly the same. It is probably more likely that the Christian crazies may get a little physical with you, but it all still applies.

Both have little followings. Christians have their churches, and I believe there are seminars where athiests can preach the word of none religion. I just laugh at all the Athiests here. I mean I don't have anything agaisnt your beliefs, and what you say on here. But you are just as bad as the Christians.

:)

I did not say we had an absence of stupid atheists, grin.

In general, you will have trouble finding a more tolerant person then an atheist, at the end of the day, and when push comes to shove.

Admittedly, we may sound harsher then religious people. After all, we can offer no guaranteed benefits package after you die.

But judging people by how they say something is infinitely less wise then judging what they are saying.

The real point we try to make, that becomes needlessly complicated by discussion is this...

"If you want a unified world that is free, you must eliminate the barriers that profess to be correct absolutely without any reasonable proof and accept that ones purpose in life is discovered for oneself, and that it is a personal matter and personal journey, not one thrust upon you by any culture, dogma, or religion.."

WOW, What a Heep of shit you created Hunky!

LOL

I never dreamed I'd encounter a reference to the lapsarian conflict on a gay message board.

:D

For the record, I'm an ex-Christian, a seminary graduate, and (on a bad day) an anti-theist. I chose answer B.

I may take some flack for this but I am going to submit it anyway. Everyone has the right to believe how they want but, lets look logically.
1. The bible was written 200 yrs after his death, can you write a book about the civil war and quote word by word what someone said?
2. In those days it was illegal to be single but the scriptures never mention woman traveling with him and the 12 other men he befriended.
3. think of the last rumor you heard and how only a little of truth was in it when you found out the true story. kinda sounds like the game telephone dosent it? Many of the miricles he was said to have done could have started as a simple jester of kindness and two hundred years of adding to it. hence mythology.

I find it funny that people say he will return, but will anyone believe it when he does. If anyone even suggest they are the second comming, the religous sector denounces it quickly. look at david keresh? will they crusify him again? I find it hard to believe that god has not added to the bible in over 1900 years. Is he taking a break? or has the churches closed their minds to the possiblility that even the bible can change over time. Or that they may have the privilage of legal discrimination taken from them.

For every christians right to believe in faith, that same right must be upheld for a non believer to question. When was the last time a christian sat and listened to a non believer? they usually walk away or dont let you get a word in edgewise. So they have the right to make you listen to them, live by their rules, expect you to change to their way of thinking, but you do not have the right to question their opinion or church doctrine? something is very wrong.
