I've never made one but I am thinking about it this year. The problem is that I can't find one around 10 pounds. If I don't find a small one I will just buy a premade roasted half breast like I did last year, assuming they still sell those at my supermarket. I know they want $40 for a full dinner.

No, but I'm not having turkey for Thanksgiving anyway. I've never been a big turkey lover. I much prefer chicken.

Nope. Never do. I go to the relatives and have their turkey. And i hate turkey! lol........

But this year will be different. I work until 11PM the nite before, I was going to drive down with a relative to her sons, ...until I found out she wanted to leave at 8 in the morn instead of the usual 10am. Not. So this year I will have a VERY relaxing day to myself, and take my pick of three restaurants in the area that will be open...|..|(!) No family drama until Christmas!

I got mine from Whole Foods. They are yummy. I like them better than Tofurky. :)

I'll have to check it out. I've wanted to try Tofurky as well. We already had our Thanksgiving early, but maybe next year.

Ordered, yes. Purchased, no.

24lbs. For 16 people. Making antipasto and profiteroles and chocolate pecan pie. I feel stuffed already. (Not in the Australian sense; that's later tonight.)

You can buy just the turkey breast that will easily be under 10 pounds. I got one frozen that was 7 pounds. And it fits nicely in my crock pot for an easy no fuss roasting.

I will be attending a huge Thanksgiving feast (my old college friends, their spouses and children, and THEIR spouses...and children). The hosts will be taking care of the turkey (actually that most traditional food, the turduckhen, bharf). Also a ham. I don't know about other meats, but I generally have no trouble being more than adequately fed, though I'm a vegetarian.

Field Roast is REALLY tasty. Expensive though. Tofurky isn't all that good. It's OK, but not more than that.

I am a vegetarian, not a vegan. Large difference. =P

Me too. Don't stand between me and my cream sauce!

Just for the record, Li'l Bit finds that incredibly sexy.

(That goes for you too, Metta.)

Heh. I would bet I present something of a challenge in that regard!

No no no, I have never been a fan of fish, even when I did eat meat.

Likewise again. Though I actually ate fish for several months after giving up land meat, I've been MUCH less tempted by fish over the years. Not that I've been tempted by either in, say, your lifetime.

And this particular comment of yours...could be maliciously misinterpreted by someone with an evoll mind. Like mine. :D

vile, disgusting, blight on the faith of the earth, etc...

While I wouldn't go that far, I WOULD say that trying to make a veggie food look and taste as much like meat as possible strikes me as a) counterproductive and b) ultimately futile. The recent-convert vegetarians remember meat too well, and will not be fooled; the vegetarians-of-decades will be repelled.
