I ate a piece of chicken when I got home from Good Friday service at St. Al's. My roommate had made stirfry and I tried to pick around it but had a piece. Pretty much made it through Lent with fish on Friday (along with many other days).

No, but there wasn't any meat at the house for me to eat.

I used to hate Good Friday

it was so quiet!

we couldn't play, nor talk loudly. All that was on TV was either the Pope's Mass or a version of the life of Christ

and the thing is, we weren't even Catholic!

But my mom would make fish, King Mackerel in Escabeche. It was the only time of year my mom would make fish, because she was terribly allergic and couldn't even smell it.

Today I felt a twinge of nostalgia, after a rather stressful few weeks, I wish I had a day of quiet meditation... not for religious reasons, but to remind myself of family, and some quiet time, I had no meat today. Having a goat cheese and salsa omelet for a late dinner

I only wish I had that Escabeche recipe from my mom

i definitely did. i have never really followed that tradition though, so its ok.

My parents were old school Catholics who, even after Vatican II said it was okay to eat meat on Friday, (except during Lent), still refrained from meat on all Fridays of the year.

My father's family took even one step further. They do not eat meat on all the Wednesdays or Fridays during Lent.

As for me, I still follow the tradition of my parents. All Fridays are meatless (unless I go out to dinner and the steaks are just too tempting). During Lent, no meat on Ash Wednesday, and I do not eat meat on the Fridays of Lent.

I love to eat different pasta dishes, veggie pizzas, and fish on Fridays. Really, I don't miss it....

I woke up, had cereal and eggs, went to the gym, came home and ate a chicken breast with broccoli. 2 hours later I had another chicken breast. In the mid afternoon I had turkey pepperoni as a snack, and then this evening for dinner I had bison steaks with roasted red peppers and potatoes.

Of course! That's what was good about it. In fact not just good friday but excellent friday thanks to a lovely bit of prime rib.

PS. fish is meat.

Bacon cheeseburger.......later on some leftover braised beef roast in gravy and then polished off a leftover chicken breast too.
Going for some strawberry shortcake at the moment.
YES.......I eat like a pig....... .......and I don't gain weight....... :p

Nope, but only because i'm a vegetarian. Wouldn't have mattered anyway since i'm an Atheist...haha.
