So I recently bought a Dildo 6” and not terribly thick, but definitely bigger than my tight hole. I have never had a dick in me or a Dildo The only thing I’ve had is a fairly small butt plug and a prostate massager but it was also small. I am very nervous about it and was looking for any advice. I know go slow and use lots of lube but I am scared after the initial pain I will back out and be too scared of the pain. Also, is there any damage that I can do? I hear horror stories about people having to go to the emergency room for playing with toys. Mine cannot get stuck in me as it has balls and a suction cup. Any and all advice is welcome. Thanks! I’m nervously excited

There's some threads in the Sticky section about toys with helpful suggestions that you might read through.

First: dildos, especially for beginners, should be as close as possible to the size of a real dick. A 6" dildo meets that rule. Although, be aware that it's not length that is the challenge: it's girth. As long as the circumference is also within the normal range, you should be fine.

Second: You bought a dildo with something (i.e. "balls) that you can hold onto and that will likely be too big to slip too far into your ass. Most of the horror stories have to do with lubey hands and toys that slide too far in to retrieve. You should be fine with the toy that you bought.

For beginners, I usually suggest butt plugs because they are tapered and they help with training your anus to relax and accept things going in the "other" direction. If the width of your dildo is within a reasonable size, you should be fine. You might start with a thicker lube (make sure it's compatible with the material that your toy is made from) and if you prefer to a use a condom, that will save you having to clean it afterward.

Enjoy.

The two manufacturers above make both cream and gel lubes. For toys, a thicker lube tends to stay on the toy.

I generally don't recommend silicone-based lubes unless you're using glass toys. Silicone tends to react with jelly toys and can cause breakdown of the toys. The other thing about silicone and oil-based lubes is that they are difficult to remove from clothing and linens, versus water-based lubes that will clear from cloth in the washing machine.

If you go too fast you can give yourself an anal fissure devote plenty of time to it Rome wasnt built in a day! Start with the prostate massager after a bit move to the buttplug finally stopping with the Dildo! Know your material! YOU CANT USE SILICONE LUBE ON A SILICONE TOY! Use a condom to sase cleanup! But toy cleaner check that its safe for your toy! In my experience KY JELLY is crap! Astroglide aint great neither! In a pinch Astroglide gel is useable but not recommended, Trojan Aloe was decent I actually really like Swiss Navy waterbased! If going silicone Pjurs analyse me is GREAT! Side note Id stay away from gun oil everytime I used it trying to take my Dildo I bled there are ingredients that promote blood flow and for me personally not a great match!

I'm glad that you posted that very important information. Just recently, in the mainstream news media, there was an article posted about a heterosexual couple where the male enjoyed anal sex with his female partner. She reported that he was particularly large and that the penetration had triggered multiple anal fissures which have become problematic. Dildo play can create the same types of problems if people are not careful, as you wisely advised. It's good that you brought this to everyone's attention.

Welcome to the wonderful world of assplay!
You've been given very good advice. Just follow this and always listen to your body. You need to be slow and gentle at the beginning and everything will be fine. You can take breaks during your assplay (I still do this). You can also try different lubes to see which one feels better for you.
As you feel more and more comfortable you'll be able to take bigger toys for a longer time. You'll be able to reach intense moments of pleasure. Trust me ;)
Have fun!

PS. Can I ask your age?

Can someone truly explain what poppers do? I’ve talked to others and they said I need to try poppers but not sure what that would do for me.

The general answer is, "They relax smooth muscle".

Smooth muscle tissue (aka "involuntary muscles") lines blood vessels and sphincter muscles.

The blood vessel relaxation dilates the blood vessels. That gives some people a "head rush". For others, it gives them a headache.

In some people, the relaxation of smooth muscle in sphincters relaxes the anal sphincter muscle.

Something to be aware of: erectile dysfunction medications (e.g. Viagra, Cialis) can interact with poppers to cause extremely low blood pressure and even death.

Excellent post with a particularly important caveat about the interaction between poppers and erectile dysfunction medications that can cause extremely low blood pressure and even death. I commend you for pointing that out.
