The Clash created me. I was lost in a supermartket for a long time.

Today I would probably be some corporate dickhead without the clash.

maybe one of the one percent but fuck it i'm happy.

It's sad when anybody who affected me musically dies - be that Joe Strummer or Donna Summer.

^ Well most of them got lots of fame and celebrity and wealth before they went off the hospital and the morgue.

Lou Reed was paid to make some appearances here two years ago and he looked pitiful. He was Non compos mentis. He looked like a geriatric who'd lost his wheelchair. He could barely speak a sentence without his once-famous wife having to help him out.

what inspired this thread? I wasn't aware that any members of The Clash died recently.

maybe but when Joe Strummer died The Clash died ..........but damn it was good music that did help change the world.

Sic transit Gloria Mundi.

I have to agree that when a musician dies, it is like a star in the sky burning out. No matter your taste in music, these are the people who often spoke for us and gave voice to all the things that were going on in our own lives.

Obviously many of them are dying now because they have hit the age where lifestyle and genetics finally catch up with you.

I thought this was going to be something about Robin Gibb (not that I was a fan).

Didn't Joe Strummer die around ten years ago?
