Discussion Thread from the Funny Anti-Religious Pictures thread.

One Thing...Oh My...

I will not say what I want to say....but reading this thread actually made me understand something else I wasn't quite grasping til now........

As my spiritual beliefs are similar Shirley MacLaines....I used to laugh the hardest at the jokes...because they are funny....

I knew they were MY beliefs...I didn't expect anyone else to believe them or "give me or my beliefs respect"....

If religion wants respect..they should probably learn to respect other people first. Telling people their belief is fact and subjecting them in any way to said beliefs is abuse...and they should expect people to notice...

.....duh.....

We should all post this message to the FB and twitter accounts of certain leaders in Turkey, Iran, and so on.

bumping the discussion thread again in case anyone wants to use it....

^ Indeed, little things can have a big impact. What if the muslims hadn't been stopped in Poitiers in 732, nor in Vienna in 1683? Perhaps Australia and the Americas would have been converted by muslim nations? Or as yet lie undiscovered by the West?

But back to the jokes. Keep 'em coming.

Except, oh, yeah -- the rules here say to treat other people with respect.

It's telling that there can be a funny anti-religious pic thread, but no funny anti-race pic thread, or funny anti-obese pic thread, or funny anti-lesbian pic thread.

JUB still has a double standard.

No it doesn't. It would be ok to make fun of obese lesbians who tell the whole world what to do based on fictional accounts of things that never happened.

It's astounding how people who claim to be educated can say such deplorably ignorant things. It's plain that he hasn't the slightest clue what Christianity says.

Ditto this one:

Mods, I appreciate that you removed Kulindahr's comment saying that my posting these pics makes me look like an idiot, but it really isn't necessary; Idiot, ignorant...I've heard it from him before

it's not important what he thinks of me

Even you must be aware that there is a difference between what people are from birth/genetics (eg. race, sexuality); lifestyle choices (eg. obesity); and belief systems (eg. religions).

Religion deserves no more respect than any other freely chosen belief system (communism, fascism, whatever).

Many belief systems/religions are utterly nonsensical, illogical, irrational, contradictory, etc and are really worthy of nothing but ridicule.

Haven't we had this discussion ad nauseam?
