^ I'm surprised I've NEVER yet seen anybody refer to [fill-in-the-blank with God, or a similar choice] as "SKY GUY."

I mean, isn't it obvious??

Guess my fate is now sealed, with this post. Satan awaits...

^ Oh, it was for real... why such a stupid name, kill celestial bodies?

Oh, wait, it's because of the explosion of the Star of Death or whatever silly name they gave it, in the first installment of the plague?

My bother kept a chromo album of the movie when I was a little kid

Re: Funny anti-religious Internet pics [2012 - 2021 Edition]

There was a famous preacher in the nineteenth century who got told that some certain thing was going to happen because with God all things are possible and they'd prayed for it.

The preacher pointed to the rebuilding of the temple as his illustration to make this point: just because it may be possible doesn't mean you don't have to get off your lazy ass and work!

^ Why of course the idea of God is way larger than any virus, but did he mean that the pandemic was nothing to the people because God is above everything? How stupid and truly antireligious, how 'God-mocking' is that?!

And FFS, all American preachers, at least the starlet sort ones, talk as if they were the Pope: if you are a Christian faithful, you do not need any meddling goddam   fucking Bible-peddler, self-parading as a God-chosen head of the Christian sheep, to be able talk to the God with Whom you are supposed to be able to talk directly after having accepted 'The Word': I thought that was precisely what first the Reform in Europe, and religion in America afterwards, were all about  8-)

^You have alluded to the "priesthood of all believers" concept, which would imply a healthy skepticism of what members of the clergy say. However, many people tend to be attracted to those who assume the trappings of power and authority, and would rather have others tell them what to think and what to do.

One thing that struck me about televangelists, a mostly if not almost completely American phenomenon, is that they do not have to meet any of the qualifications usually required of religious leaders. The do not have to attend seminary or divinity school, they do not have to be ordained, nor do they have to graduate from college or even high school. Something to think about.

Because all that is corrupting to the human link with God: true believers know that very well ...

^ Oh, at first I thought HE wanted to go to Heaven by having his hand nailed...

Except Osteen doesn't even draw a salary.

Does he have a job elsewhere? Does that income cover his food, shelter and transportation?

Or, is he simply 'living [large] off the church' and avoiding income taxs in the process?
