I found this rather disgusting website on the Straight/Bi forum created by some 'ornery bisexuals called "OutStraight.net":

The basic premise of the website is that a gay man or lesbian can 'go straight' without divine intervention but through intense psychological therapy (which they're never specific about), "I think I Can, I Think I Can" mantras, and a few casual encounters Craigslist ADs propositioning a woman to 'convert' a gay man.

According to the website, a gay guy CAN go straight...as long as he tries hard enough and he has a 'good reason' to.

When I knew the term many years ago, their sole intent was to try to have sex with gay men, much like some gay men try to have sex with straight men. Not necessarily for conversion but for the conquest. i.e. attaining the unattainable.

I won't bother going anywhere near that site, but I'm just wondering - why is this any more disgusting than trying to turn straight guys gay? (which seems to be a very popular activity on this forum).

I actually agree, I personally believe doing one or the other is a huge invasion of privacy. Even if I were to get with a straight guy I would never expect it to go anywhere, nor would I be trying to 'turn him gay'.

I'm not excusing the "seducing a straight guy" threads, but I think there IS a difference.

Supposedly, these women sleeping with gay guys is supposed to turn them straight. Permanently. Whereas the entire POINT of "seducing a straight guy" is that the guy is, in fact, straight. If he turned gay, he'd suddenly lose all his appeal.
