:confused:A little confused by these two utilities. Is one better than the other? Do they both basically do the same thing?
I have used both Disk Fragmenter (XP) and Speed Disk (Norton) and see little improvement.
Also I have run one after the other (as a check?) and even though (eg) Speed Disk has been run successfully, Disk Fragmenter will say that C needs to be defragmented.
Any comments?
Thankx in advance.

disk defrag that comes with windows xp works better than something from nortorn cause the windows defrag is meant to defrag windows xp that's on your harddrive as for speed disk i never used it i been using windows defrag as i have a real hatred for anything norton makes

Auslogics Disk Defrag® - does exactly what it says on the tin and best of all its free :D

Windows built in defrag is useless btw and different defrag apps use different algorithms so that's why one will say that everything is hunky dory while another will say that it needs to be defragged.

Thanks Noelie, but

"INTERNET EXPLORER CANNOT DISPLAY THIS PAGE...."

Ditto for several other auslogics sites from a Yahoo search.

The "Crap Cleaner" people have a new tool called the Defraggler -- it's fast, and targets individual files.

Of course, being unable to look "under the hood" of any MS product or OEM, who knows what works best.

(Yea, it's free too)

I've always been partial to diskeeper ever since NT4
