Divas - When fame goes to their heads

The term "diva" once referred to a celebrated female opera singer. (It has also come to be used in the R&B world in reference to greats like Aretha and Tina Turner.) But thanks to a tendency of female singers to behave like spoiled egomaniacs -- one of the best known examples being the tantrum throwing soprano Maria Callas -- the term has also been adopted to refer to those in the music industry who act like spoiled brats, make outrageous demands and think the laws of gravity do not apply to them. And it's not just for women anymore! Here is a list of some of the biggest divas in music.

I guess it all depends on who you believe. Recently Mariah was over here and every one that interviewed her said she was so nice and no bother at all - not requiring any special treatment and just plainly normal.

As for the thing that she doesn't do stairs - if any of us had to wear those ridiculous high heeled shoes - then I bet we wouldn't do stairs either.

I'm not a Mariah fan and as for the others I don't know about. But in this case it seems she might be getting an unfair reputation.

The term diva seems to now mean spoilt brat - not a great and amazing singer.

And she couldn't hold a candle to that over-rated bitch, Kathleen Battle. One of the many stories about her "diva-ship" was that Battle was riding in a limousine somewhere in New York City and was uncomfortable with the breeze coming through the driver's window. Instead of asking the driver to "Please, would you mind closing your window" she called her manager and told him to call the limousine company president and have him call the driver and tell him to close the window.

The red carpet lined with candles? Um, yeeeah. Good one. The stairs thing is probably true.
And if I were her, I'd have them change the toilet seats too LOL
Thats not really diva to me.
Also they said she likes being called a diva - year, when it meant something other than "demanding bitch."
