There are so many ads where the only pic is one of a penis. And often not a particularly attractive one. Lets say well below average. Or a close-up of some guy's hairy ass. Almost never of a nice hairless ass and balls. (I know, I'm showing my preference here, so don't get out the flame throwers) I wouldn't go for it, but at least it would be attractive. Just wondering whether anyone has ever posted one and gotten a response or responded to one. Do they work if they are big beautiful penises?

Arguably the written content in an ad is a more important. That's the only way you are going to tell what the writer wants.

If the written content is good (the writer is compatible and you can understand) you can ascertain through other means if you actually like* the guy.
