Has anyone encountered problems with an MP3 recorded with Audacity, for example? I'm wondering if iPods or other MP3 players will refuse to recognize these files.

I have yet to have any kind of issue. I used Adobe Audition I know its not Audcity but I recorded a few MP3's using Audition and they worked perfectly fine. But for some reason there are MP3 files that won't even work on Audition it might have to do with the MP3 tags or even the art work embedded into the file.

You can always try converting it in iTunes but you'll lose quality that way.

If you're not anal about quality then I would use iTunes, that's my only suggestion sometimes iPods have weird format types that's why I use different MP3 players.

Ohhhh! iPods will play WAV files? That makes things a lot easier. I was concerned they would only play MP3s with some sort of special licensed programming.

Thanks for that, Andy. (UU)

Aren't WAV files like five times the size of an MP3 file? Unless you're playing like a low quality sound clip.

^ wav files are uncompressed audio - no quality loss through compression. Like AIFF files or Apple Lossless files (all iPod compatible in the majority of iPods) they are much larger but much better quality than MP3.

I must be too old I just got a headache trying to remember this all again. BTW you shouldn't be having a problem if you are using audacity. If you are dont do your own settings other then bitrate
