Marie, you should have said, "Ideally, keep FEWER than 30 books." No doubt you learned the correct use of FEWER and LESS when you were in school in Japan. Please don't follow the atrocious grammar often used by native speakers and repeated daily on television, radio and online here in the US.

We (two of us) probably have about 120-130 linear feet of filled shelves, plus numerous boxes in storage. We're slowly chipping away at it, taking a bag to the library once in a while. One library has both a giveway shelf and sales to support the library. Then there's the hundreds on the Kindle. A few favs on both Kindle and the bookshelf. There are a lot of reference books in the mix.

As soon as my great nephews are old enough, I am handing over the collections of special books to them and their parents.

And whatever they don't want, we will start to sell on-line to collectors and to give all the others away to whoever in the family expresses interest.

The doll is a certain singer with the initials JB. Found him at the thrift store, actually 2 of him -- imagine the possibilities!

I really should move to Hillcrest. My first reaction on being there was, "Where has this been all my life?!"

"He buys three other books too, because he wants the bookshop still to be there when he comes back next week."-
Richard Osman, 'The Man Who Died Twice'.

Hey, so now I have a good excuse.

Reading Osman right now.
