Do I have feminine hips/physique??

Just have to say thanks again you guys made me feel so good!! :D
All your responses have kept me motivated to continue weight-lifting...only missed 1 workout day so far! :D

I'd kill for your body! I don't think it's THAT feminine, but a body like yours would be great for drag. ;)

Your torso is like a doppelganger of mine (really narrow waist with little muscle or fat, and iliac crests that kind of poke out). I have yet to figure out how to get something to build up on the sides (muscle, fat, I really don't care at this point).

But the main difference between male and female upper bodies is that women have shoulders that are narrower or the same width as their hips; men have shoulders that are wider than their hips. Your shoulders are noticeably wider than your hips, and would be even wider if you bulked up some. So no, you don't have feminine hips.

You're body's not feminine. Just slim is all. You look like me before I started working out. I started around 15 and I'm 20 now. I'm still slim but I'm tone with good definition. I have no muscle mass though. The only place where my muscle size increased was my pecs. My advice: do lots of body weight exercises. Push-ups can be your best friend. They work the abs, shoulders, pecs. Also planks are great.

It will take some time to see results, but don't give up! Be consistent.

Sorry guys, I left this thread without any updates. Here are some - not much of a difference but I managed to gain a few kilos and got a lot stronger. I think I need to count my calories to advance properly - I tend to stay fairly thin unless I'm eating 3500+ calories a day consistently.

Anyways I'm somewhat happy with result - I'm about 5-7kgs heavier in these photos - I'm sure I can look much better if I put on more weight :)

Thanks so much for all of your encouragement and helping me feel better about myself :)

Um... you don't have hips. The green tighty underwear though is a little feminine or maybe boyish.

It depends on what your long-term goal is. At the moment, a more lean "skinny" look is what is fashionable (although the athletic muscular look ever really goes out of style in the gay community).

If you want more muscle, it's true that you would have to add a lot of calories because your genetics are geared more toward a runner or swimmer type body.

There's certainly nothing wrong with where you are today. It's a look that will get you plenty of second glances. :)

As a comparison, here's a before-after of your photos. Three areas where there is the most noticeable change:
  1. You've added mass in your deltoids which gives your arm a more athletic/muscular look
  2. You've added muscle in your pecs, so your chest looks fuller. You probably look much better in a tight tshirt than before
  3. You've added a lot of muscle around your core. You may not have realized this but when you stand, your hips lean to your left. In the second of photos, your spine is in much better alignment and you are distributing your weight more evenly to both legs.

In the before photos, you didn't give us as many angles, so it's not as easy to give you a before-after comparison but your back looks good- you have a nice v-taper with good lats and a cute butt. :)

Congrats on your progress.
