Damn Windows Update keeps asking me to d / l it. Also the Yahoo! home page wants me to d / l it. What are the differences between it and IE 7? I'm running Vista.

Firefox is also a good browser I use both Firefox and Google Chrome.

So what do Chrome and Firefox have that Internet Explore dosen't have? Vista is stable for my use, so that's not an issue here.

I don't know about Google Chrome but Firefox is much quicker than any version of IE I've ever used. it's less clunky, quicker to switch between tabs, more streamlined. I dunno, it just feels much, much better to use. Pretty much any version of IE is widely considered inferior to both Chrome and Firefox.

I have IE 8 even though I didn't download it. Windows 7 asked me if I wanted to and I said 'No'. I was asked on two other occasions and declined both. Next thing I know, it was downloaded and installed and I didn't even know about it until Windows 7 told me after the fact.

I hate hate hate it! There isn't even a menu across the top!

Edit: Forgot to say that I use only Firefox except when I watch videos at HGTV.ca. For some reason, Firefox won't play the videos.

if you want the internet explorer is one question. but if you use it - at least update it to the newest version. and at the moment this is version 8.

It does have a menu bar. Open the browser, at the top left portion of the window click on "Tools", "Toolbars", "Menu Bar".

As far as my opinion of it, I like it. I don't have issues with it. I do find it a little slow, as with all versions of IE, but I hear that will change when MS releases IE 10. It's being totally re-worked.

I find on the older of my 2 computers, IE 8 is slower the IE 7. That's my only problem with it. It runs fine on the newer computer with Vista.

Although, I have to admit I use Google Chrome most of the time. It's faster on the older computer. If you're downloading the pictures here on JUSB Chrome seems to know the name of the picture. IE 8 doesn't seem to read that info so you have to make up your own.

So you are one of those guys that keep us webdesigners from using new technology on websites, because they won't display correctly in older versions of the IE :grrr:

There are some software that will not run or even install with XP Pro if you have IE above version 6. I have a key in the registry to prevent Windows update from installing a new IE. I use Firefox exclusively. The many add-ons that I have installed make it a clear winner to me.
