No, I don't believe in God. I don't call myself an Atheist, though, because I'm smart enough to realize that there are things outside of our universe that we can't possibly understand.
I don't think it's fair to say that atheism indicates a lack of intelligence. Some atheists, myself included, simply reject belief. I don't profess to know that there is no god(s), nor do I claim to understand the concept.

I simply lack belief.

I don't go for the whole "The universe is so complex, magic man must have done it" hypothesis. Intelegent design is so entrenched in evangelical christianity, even if it were a viable theory, I'd still have difficulty believing it.

I am exploring my spiritual side at the moment. I believe in God and I trust Him not to be so hung up on my gayness.

I think part of the point of this thread was to go by your OWN definitions of "believe in" and "God". At least that's how I took it.

The trouble is, if by "God" you mean "tzatziki," and if by "believe" you mean "can't stop eating with fresh pita," then of course the answer is YES.

There's no harm in being more specific than that, though.

Just so. And of course the problem is, what's the question being asked? Not much of a poll if some people are answering in terms of an omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent, omnibenevolent Creator, Redeemer, and Sustainer...and others are answering in terms of tzatziki, now is is?

And I've been struggling to define 'believe in' and so far have had no luck.

Would you please lay out your thoughts so far? I think of "belief" as assent that a proposition is literally real or true.

As such, I find the question of belief trite for the most part, regarding religious stories.

This poll is interesting.
38.10% believe
52.38% not believe
9.52% not sure
Is the poll accurate outside JUB ?

Let's just say that I enjoy the mystery

Yes I believe in me. :D

Generally no, but I usually keep swinging from just irreligious to full fledged Atheist.

No. I believe in nothing based solely on faith. Show me the facts, or I don't believe it. I do however, respect others whose faith sustains them when it is used in a positive way and allows no intolerance of others beliefs.
Couldn't have said it better myself =D

I voted no on his existence because if God really did exist then why is he failing to make his case on me but not on some other people"? Why are they more special than me?

Same can be said of all Religions, even those who think otherwise, including Atheism, and one's private brand of religion.

I was talking about that kind of people in all religions. I fail to see how that relates to an atheist though, when they don't believe in a god or a hell.

What do you mean by 'believe in', exactly?

What do you mean by 'God', exactly?

When you define those terms precisely I'll know how to answer your question. Of course, since no one has ever done so, I don't think I'll be answering it anytime soon.

You're the one who was supposed to define what god means to you, not me. It's an open question. Some of you didn't get it, obviously.

Maybe God is a Calvinist?

It doesn't mean anything to me. It assumes monotheism, for one thing, which I basically reject.
